The NCAA has posted its listings of the most improved women's teams for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.

http://www.ncaa.org/stats/w_basketball/most_improved/index.html

In 05-06, Mary Washington ranked #8 among the most improved, and St. Mary's was tied for #9. (Villa Julie, soon to enter the CAC, was #7).

No CAC teams are on the 05-06 list, although Villa Julie was tied for #20.

Marymount's recruits, from its website:

And fans of the local college summer league have seen what is to come for MU this upcoming season with four of the five recruits playing. Kathleen Brown (Walt Whitman HS, Bethesda , MD ) is a force to be reckoned with inside. She is a tireless rebounder and has a soft touch around the basket. Terell White (Stone Bridge HS, Ashburn, VA) and Meredith Levison (East Rockaway HS, East Rockaway, NY) are both big, strong guards who can play either the one, two or three spots. Two other wing players, Anneka Dobbins (Arundel HS, Gambrills, MD) and Brianna Wise (Towson Catholic HS, Owings Mills, MD) will add quickness and depth to the perimeter play.

UMW to investigate possible hazing incident

  Date published: 9/29/2006

By JEFF BRANSCOME and MICHAEL ZITZ

University of Mary Washington officials are investigating photos that appear to show members of the 2004-05 women's basketball team engaged in hazing rituals.

The spokesman for an anti-hazing Web site provided nine of 113 such pictures to The Free Lance-Star yesterday.

They're dated April 2, 2005, and are "absolutely" a violation of the college's hazing policy, said Bernie Chirico, vice president for student affairs.

"However, one student will be punished for violating an athletic department policy, said Bernie Chirico, vice president for student affairs. He would not describe the violation or the punishment, saying it was a personnel issue."

I notice you stayed pretty silent on the issue.

In deference to your (lack of) posts on the LAX board about the CUA women's LAX team  ;)

Pat Coleman

Nobody brought it up there. But it was discussed on the ODAC football board (CUA is a member of the ODAC in football) and I did not duck the subject there.

Nobody brought it up there?  ::)  You could have brought it up on the CAC LAX page just like you brought MWC up on the CAC basketball page

Pat Coleman

Just like YOU brought up UMW on the CAC basketball page?

Ah, but I repeat myself!

Pat Coleman

You do. I didn't duck the subject though. I talked about it where it was talked about -- on a much more trafficed page than women's lax, too.

You ducked. That was my point. You can keep repeating yourself if you like but it doesn't mean anything.
