York played very hard with Keli Ward and Amy Fry being the standouts for York. A big win for a team that is learning how to win and compete with the best teams in the CAC and the region.

Mary Washington was missing two starters and they never seemed comfortable during the game. I am sure that they will be very ready for the Spartans when the head to Fredericksburg on February 3. They didn't play their best game but they are very talented and should be the front-runner in the conference this year.

Just a little note that may only be of interest to me: of the Spartans' 200 minutes in the game - Seniors-17 minutes, Juniors-49 minutes, Sophomores-124 mintues, Freshmen-10 minutes. A young team that hopefully is starting to gel.
York's only loss in the CAC was at Salisbury in OT. A game in which the Spartans played a horrible five minutes late in regulation that cost them the win.

Salisbury - 67
Gallaudet - 45

Final exam and winter break is up next for the Bison. They would come back on January 8th for home game against non-conference opponent, Wilson College.

Catholic  63

In Washington DC, Richard Stockton College (NJ) defeated Catholic in a non-conference matchup. RSC outscored CUA 50-37 in the 2nd half.

You are kind.

UMW is strongest at post with Bruen and Hickey. They averaged 25.5 minutes in the game and combined for 6 for 12 from the floor. One of those was a 3 pointer. The other three that started averaged 34 minutes and shot 6 for 31 from the floor. 21 of UMW's 52 shots were 3s. UMW is vulnerable when it doesn't use its post game.

From Lincoln University on Monday night...

York 83-Lincoln 64

The Spartans keep rolling with their third straight win and they are now 6-1 after their 0-2 start to the season. Junior Kristen Daly led the Spartans with 19 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Daly drained a pair of threes and also converted all five of her free throws for the game. Sophomore point guard Keli Ward, playing near her hometown of Nottingham, PA, tossed in 16 points, grabbed four rebounds, handed out two assists and collected one steal. Sophomore Chanel Perez chipped in with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a blocked shot. Andrews was the fourth Spartan in double figures with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, and a pair of    steals.

I like the way the CAC is all shook up. it will only strengthen the conference.  It will exploit each team's weaknesses and who ever may prevail I feel will do extremely well in the tourny.

The Eagles have flown (to Florida).  8)

From Fla...
UMW 45, Ripon 32
UMW 61, Adrian 45
UMW seems to have rebounded from their loss at York, beating Ripon and Adrian (both over .500 from the midwest) by 10+ points each in Fla to move to 6-2. UMW held Ripon to 12 field goals in the game, allowing just 32 points.

UMW is vulnerable when it doesn't use its post game.

UMW appears to be consistently lacking in three areas:
The low post game.
Attack of the offensive basket.
Crisp ball movement.

The ball needs to be down low to Hickey/Bruen and attack the hoop in order to open the 3 point game.

Statistically Bruen is carrying The Eagles on her back until Girls (who's shot's appear to be slightly off) get their rhythm back. Can one expect Bruen to actually carry them alone through the CAC and into the NCAA Tournament?

All is quiet. Very Quiet. Things should get very hectic come January, especially when the league schedule kicks into high gear. Should be some good games.  :)
