that was an amazing season ;D congrats to the eagles finishing so well in the tournament.

Bruen's presence will be missed on the court next year...thanks for the four years of exciting basketball

UMW Eagles you have made your school, not to mention your fans, very proud (and happy), congrats on your fabulous season. 31-3 WOW!! The most wins in the nation!

Debbie Bruen you will be remembered for years to come.

I tip my hat to the finest group of young ladies I have ever met.

Coach Applebury keep moving forward!

My congratulations too to the UMW Eagles! What a season!

Special congratulations to Debbie Bruen on her All American and NCAA final four all-tournament honors (what a way to end a great career), to Liz Hickey on her All American honors, and Coach Applebury for being Russell Coach of the Year.

Congratulations too to Stephanie Saint-Aubin of St. Mary's for being named to Women's DIII News' All-Freshman Team.

The front page article on the "nomination of the top shot blocker in Division III history, Cori Carson, who recorded 485 blocks at Upsala and Marymount" caught my eye.  A prediction: if she stays healthy, soph Liz Hickey of UMW will own the record when she graduates. She blocked 104 as a freshman, and has 46 in nine games as a sophomore.  ;D

Liz Hickey shot blocking update through the end of 06-07, her junior season at Mary Washington:

Frosh: 104
Soph:  140
Junior: 132

Total:   376

Needed next season to tie D3 career record: 109

According to the school's President, the NCAA is investigating a complaint about a grade change for a student athlete at Gallaudet.

The article does not identify the sport the athlete played.

Any idea why Hambrose was let go? Didn't seem like this year was a low point by any stretch.

Sorry, but I don't know why she was let go. Maybe there is someone out there with a tie to St. Mary's who could give insight?

The new coach at St. Mary's is Barb Bausch, former coach at Vassar and Guilford

The 06-07 records of the two teams that have now left the CAC were:

Catholic 15-11,  7-7
Goucher 4-20, 2-12

The 06-07 records of the three teams now joining the CAC, and their records against teams that were in the CAC last season, were:

Hood 5-18, 1-5
Villa Julie 19-10, 1-2
Wesley 7-18, 0-2

All of the Goucher, Hood, and Villa Julie 06-07 victories against CAC teams came at the expense of Gallaudet, which was winless in the CAC.

Catholic and Goucher earned seedings in the bottom half of the league tournament last year. Based solely on the records last season of the new teams in the CAC, I wouldn't expect the new teams to threaten the pecking order in the top half of the league.

bbald,

Looks like much of a muchness to me, or maybe just a swap off   ;D

Most curious how the CAC will evolve in 07/08, Marymount came on strong with young talent at the end of 06/07
