Anybody else notice that the Mary Washington women have been getting a vote in the Washington Post's poll ranking the DC area men's teams?

Final from St. Mary's...

St. Mary's 78 - Salisbury 66

it looks like the coaching change has benefitted St. Mary's, true? I'm not sure the same can be said at Salisbury though, can it?

That the coaching change might not have benefitted Salisbury is absolutely clear.  This may be SU's worst start ever. The only returning all conference player and co-captain from last year's team, Megan Phillips, left the team after being relegated to the bench and having it made clear that she didn't fit in the new coach's core of players.  This would be easier to understand if she weren't an outstanding student academically, a dedicated player who worked hard all year at keeping herself in shape, and a kid who never got in trouble for anything.  Ask any of the other CAC coachs and I'm pretty sure they will tell you that Phillips was a very good player and they wondered why she wasn't playing.  Not that one player leaving changes the whole team but rather it is indicative of this new coach's style -- and may give some insight into why she can't get more victories with some very talented players.
