I join bbald in best wishes to York for the remainder of their historic season. Coach Witman learned from one the best coaches EVER at JMU so she surely knows how it is done!

For my UMW Ladies! I am so proud of the accomplishments you have had this year. Though you lost on Friday to a very fiesty Stevens team, you went where few thought you would go....The NCAA Tournament!
Not to mention those HUGE wins over Marymount and York in the CAC tournament. Hold your heads up! You've got another three in front of you, Freshman,  and you will continue to grow as you work to be stronger and better.

To my very special Seniors. I don't have the words to tell you how very much I love you. I hope you know. You are sisters to my girl. Thank you for four fabulous years. Lois says it's time to turn the page to a new chapter in your lives.  May it be the "Best Seller" that your years at UMW have been.

Looks like we have to take a trip to Rochester NY.  I am a little disappointed, but Rochester was ranked higher than us, so at least it's understandable.  This team is so businesslike that they'll just take it as the challenge that it is.

Hoping YCP might sponsor a bus trip like they did for the men in 2005 when they went to the sectionals in Ramapo.  In 2005 it probably helped get the men to the final four.

Go Spartans!

I truly hope that everything works out for York to match up with Rochester. How great would it be for a CAC team to take on a Rochester team that has a CAC alumna as an graduate assistant coach? 2008 Mary Washington's Liz Hickey is helping out up in Rochester while attaining her masters. It's a small, small world.

Good point eaglejacket....wonder who will be making the scouting report for that one!

Tough loss for the YCP women last night.  Got to give credit to the Scranton girls.  They played tough defense and caused YCP to go for a long stretch with little offense (similar to the loss to UMW in the CAC championship).

I know it has to be tough on the girls right now, but after you have time to reflect on your accomplishments, you'll realize that you lifted this program to a higher level.  We lose 6 super seniors.  It will fall on the shoulders of April and Jamie to try to continue bringing our program along.

To the seniors, I wish you the best as you graduate and begin your next challenge.  The experience you just went through is going to help you with whatever career you choose.  You understand better than others the value of teamwork.  Thank you for a wonderful season.  I am sure it is going to be a long time before we experience 25 wins in a row.  Thanks for the memories!

Does anyone know if The University of Mary Washington has a plan to retire jersey #11? - Debbie Bruen deserves that honor!

I haven't seen too many schools retire jerseys.  The only one I can remember off the top of my head is Lincoln University hanging Kyle Myrick's jersey on the wall and he was still active at the time.

I do know schools who've decided not to give out a jersey anymore, but they haven't officially retired it.

BigMac

Just joined the message board and hope to get a lot of info about the womens teams in the CAC this year. I, for one, will be rooting for the Eagles of Mary Washington "GO EAGLES"!!!

This is a young team but with a lot of talent. They will be adding more this season as Deena got several players from good old Northern Va to help take make up the loss of 3 talented seniors that left last year

We had 8 freshman last year but the showed they can play in this league. Great exsperiance for Wimmer & McRae as they played a lot for the Eagles and should come back stronger this season.

Marymount should be the top team in the CAC with UMW coming in a strong 2nd. York did a great job last season and they deserved everything they acomplishied but with so many graduating they will not be the same team

It will be interesting to see if Wesley, Salisbury or St. Mary's "step it up" this season and challange for the top of the division.

Only 3 months to go before the season will begin. It will be here before you know it and I for one, CAN NOT WAIT!!! [img]

Welcome Big Mac!!
I, too, am excited about the possibilities for UMW this year.  As well as the other schools in the CAC.
Last year the CAC had three schools in the NCAA tournament. It will be another great year!
Since UMW has tryouts for the team, I'll be interested to see who the new talent will be. Coach Applebury is a premiere recruiter and MAYBE UMW will FINALLY get these athletes a facility to compete in.  At least break ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BigMac

Well believe it or not I was down there moving in my daughter in Aug. and it looked like to me they were about to break ground for the new gym. It would be nice for my daughter to be able to play in it before she leaves.  :)

Glad you replied to me, I was thinking I was going to have to talk with myself ;D

This board is not always so active, but the closer the season gets, the more activity is usually seen. Sometimes.

Looks like you are right!  According to the NEW UMW EAGLES WEBSITE
http://www.umweagles.com/
Ground breaking will be the 17th!

I can hardly wait to see the new facility. Such a great school academically and athletically.  They deserve a state of the art facility.

BigMac

Only a few weeks away from the first practices. UMW should have a few new players that will be an impact right away. Reed and Martin should really step up this season. Really need Kornacki to step it up and get into shape. She can do it but will she???

I exspect McRae & Wimmer to be the leaders. Should be able to run this season. They have a lot of speed, need to use it. Very young team but a lot of talent also. Deena should get them playing well and this will be a team to watch out for. Still think Marymount will be the top seed at the begining of the season but it only counts who is there at the end  ;)

Love to hear about the other teams in the CAC. Saw a lot of talent last year. Can not wait for the season to begin ;D
