#24! :) Marymount next.

Congratulations to UMW's Coach Deena Applebury on her 200th career win.

Brookland

Hey, where did everybody go? No posts in almost a month? Is the CAC that boring this season?!

bbald eagle

Brookland,
More lively in the CAC before CUA jumped ship, I guess. ;-)
Here's an NCAA piece on UMW for your enjoyment

Pat Coleman

And maybe the NCAA site is more prestigious but more D3 fans read D3hoops.com than find their way to where the NCAA shunts D3 stories: Mary Washington in Around the Region.

No slight intended, Pat. I figured those who frequent D3hoops boards would have already read Around the Region. :-)

Brookland

By the way, a belated thanks for both references. Good stuff!!
Speaking of CUA jumping ship, they seem to be playing better ball since moving North. I imagine the move helped their recruiting. They've always been a bit of an odd match with any of the local conferences, and a glance at their roster tells why. Of 18 current players, NONE from DC, MD or VA. Only 4 from south of the Mason Dixon line, and 11 from NY, NJ and PA (other Landmark Conference school states). It makes me wonder if they get more fans at their away games...  :)

bbald eagle

Brookland,
Even more remarkable in that there are 18 players on the roster. Looks like they're having a good season, too. Good luck against Juniata.

bbald eagle

York - UMW for first in the CAC. Tight at half.

bbald eagle

CNU's presence should make the CAC's women's basketball league stronger.

Pat Coleman

Heck yes, practically every sport will be stronger with CNU!

I really thought we were going to have this about a decade ago. But the CAC progressed very slowly back then.

UMW Women's Basketball 25-0!!!
What a great regular season for this team but it's not over yet.
CAC tournament starts Tuesday 2/21, UMW plays on Thursday 2/23
One Game At A Time!!!!!

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

Agreed... I remember a season quite awhile back where UMW was undefeated before tripping to Marymount in the CAC championship game.

I remember you and I calling a game like that. Marymount jumped out to a huge lead.

That was it... UMW couldn't complete the comeback.
