UCSC is real deal.  The game was VERY good and their starting 5 are as good as CNU starting 5.  C2C tournament will be good test for CNU.  Any of C2C top 4 teams all can win AQ from tournament.  I think UCSC will finish #2 seed per Massey.
Senior night vs rival Salisbury next weekend big game.

with #4 CNU Men's team most likely getting NCAA home site for 1st round, that means #1 CNU Women's will be traveling AGAIN.  Something about odd year is men's year while even years are women's.....

That would be even year(2022) is men's priority.

I will try to tune in to the SU game while I'm in Florida. I might watch it on my porch in 80 degree weather a cold beer!!

Senior night is SU.  Some really good players in this group with 2 sweet 16 and longest winning streak in CNU history.  Really tough not being able to finish 2020 NCAA tournament and exhibition last year.

Conference tournaments are fully on. It is time for upsets and great games happening at all times. The results will not only be conference champions, but NCAA tourney dreams realized ... and dashed.

Thursday on Hoopsville, we catch up with a number of teams which realize they have to keep winning this week if they want to keep playing next week. "There is no more next game ..."

There are plenty of guests to talk to, so we are jamming them into a super-sized show. Some have quietly emerged on top, or near the top, of their conference races and hope to use home court advantage to win an automatic bid. Others knowing they have to win to make sure to keep playing this season. And one coach who shows that there is a lot of things that are important during basketball season.

Guests include (order subject to change):
  • Chad Dickman, Hood men's coach
  • Sean Coffey, Utica men's coach
  • Pat McKenzie, St. John's men's coach
  • Jacey Brooks, SUNY Cortland women's coach
  • Christine VanHook, PSU-Behrend women's coach
  • Stephany Dunmyer, Oberlin women's coach
  • Todd Kent, UC Santa Cruz women's coach

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the NABC Studio. All guests appear on the BlueFrame Technology Hoopsville Hotline.

So, as long as CNU wins the first and second rounds, they'll be hosting the Sweet 16, right?  Even though I think the CNU men will probably advance to the Sweet 16, I'm virtually certain they'll be heading to Marietta for that....

If there still alive, its a near guarantee.  The only wrinkle would be if one of the other schools was farther than 600 miles from CNU, but closer to another team.  That's not the case here.  The Texas pod will be flying regardless and Cortland, SJF, and SUNY Poly are all under 600 miles.  No reason CNU wouldn't host.

And it won't have anything to do with the status of the CNU men; the women have priority on the 2nd weekend.

for sweet 16, playing at home give CNU big edge.
CNU last home loss, 12/1/2018 by Messiah.  The only home loss these seniors have ever known.
They love the home rims and shooting lines.  just a very different team at home compared to away/neutral.

Thanks, ronk, I actually read where the women have priority the second weekend after I had commented....

Got to win on Friday and Saturday first...Friday's game is probably the closest thing to a guaranteed win that you'll get in the tournament, but playing JH on their home floor will be a different story.  The men hosted the sectional once, but the women haven't...frankly, they're deserving, as the majority of Broderick's tournament wins have been on the road...HUGE opportunity!

anyone going today and Saturday to Johns Hopkins for games?  Make sure to bring N95 masks

Salisbury struggled with Baldwin-Wallace length and size. That 1st quarter blitz gave BW the lead and they never relinquished it. When there is size differential, especially at 1-3, the 1-3 has to be superb and BW guard off the bench was and ours weren't. Salisbury also struggled stopping BW big forward and reserve guard. However, they played tough. The man to man defense really hurt without being able to switch, which created 3 point opportunities for BW during their late 1st quarter blitz, which carried forward into 2nd.

Bad news, folks.  Tufts is over 600 miles to CNU.  The sectional will likely have to be played at Amherst to minimize flights.  They've got a ton of them all over the board, so very little chance they'll give an extra one to get CNU home.  Sorry.
