Wow...has that happened before, at least to CAC teams???

Back to back to back rankings?

Good stuff.  Let the games begin!

I remember in 97-98, Marymount, Gallaudet, St. Mary's and Mary Wash were all very good, I THINK that's about the only time there were more than two teams at once of that calibre in the CAC since I've been here... Don't know about the rankings though.

Matt Letourneau

No word from MW yet, but I did run across this...

No. 21 Marymount 77, St. Mary's (Md.) 73

Matt,
not sure of the final score but unfortuneatly heard Catholic lost by about 18 after being up by 12 at the half :'(

Aha.  That would have been a very tough game for them to get...

Lets hope the men have no such problem...

UMW - 70
CUA -   51

I think CUA was up 33-21 at the half. UMW went on a 16-0 run to start the 2nd half and took over from there.
I may not always be Right........But I'm never Wrong!

The game was a lot closer than the final score however. CUA forced to foul and UMW made their Free Throws to seal it.

It'll be interesting to see if Catholic bounces back at home against Marymount Saturday. MU's last 2 wins were squeakers. St. Mary's, losing by 2 buckets to MU tonight, hosts Mary Washington Saturday.

I was really impressed by UMW tonight, they stepped up in a big game again. Lisa Tracy had 17 in the second half - really turned it on. CUA led something like 26-8 on the boards at halftime.
The run was 20-2 to start the second half...  It was a lot like the men's game - every time CUA would start a run to chip away, UMW would make a big shot or get a big stop defensively.

This was a heavyweight fight - Blow by UMW early to go up 17-8, CUA went on a huge run to lead at the half, and UMW made a big blow to go and stay ahead to start the second. Another balanced effort, everyone chipped in.

GREAT early season game, both teams are very well coached and talented, real strong and worthy of their rankings.
The CAC is LEGIT this year.

#23 Mary Washington 69,  St. Mary's (MD)  53

Eagles used a 22-0 run to pull away in the second half. Sophomore guard Lisa Tracy and junior forward Debbie Bruen each posted a double-double in the contest for the Eagles. Tracy scored 19 points with ten rebounds and five steals while Bruen added 14 points and 11 boards with a team-high three assists. Freshman center Ashton Mitchell and freshman guard Katy Larson each added ten points for the Eagles.

Sophomore guard Megan Uglik led all scorers in the contest with 22 points for the Seahawks. Junior forward Lisa Daciek added seven points as did junior guard Taylor Yearwood, who also added five steals. Freshman forward Allie Scott added six points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for St. Mary's.

Rough Game. St. Mary's lead at half. Hard fought start to finish.

eaglemaniac

Rough game is right. Ugly coaching, Ugly playing and most of all the most inept refereeing I've seen in a long time.

#22 Catholic 65 #21 Marymount 47

Catholic played very well today.  I think the surprising thing about this game was the ease in which Catholic won.  Marymount really never got especially close, I think maybe they had it down to 9 or so once in the 2nd half, but CUA pulled away again.

So, from the looks of things, the D3hoops.com voters had things reversed---Catholic did belong in the middle, for now, anyway, but put Mary Wash above them and Marymount below them.

Great game played by the Lady Cards! Once again, Lindsey leads Catholic to victory. Good luck at Stockton!

In case you aren't checking "Daily Dose," this is from today's entry:

So what does this mean? Catholic women beat Scranton. Mary Washington beat Catholic. Catholic beat Marymount. This could mean Mary Washington is really good. We'll see."
