I was sorry to see the Salisbury Lady Gulls loose the first game of the season to Va Wesleyan.  Hopefully, it'll only toughen them up for the game aganist you guys   ;) .

Salisbury is always tough - they need tenderizer (very bad pun).   ;D  I wish CAC teams could keep the losses within the CAC.

Pomona, NJ: Richard Stockton defeated Catholic U. 72-61 in a non-conference game. Stockton jumped out to a 32-25 halftime lead, and never looked back, outscoring Catholic by 4 in the 2nd half for the win. Stockton remains unbeaten at 7-0. Sophomore guard Jessica Rainey led four Ospreys in double-figures, scoring 20 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor. Rainey also had a team high 8 rebounds for head coach Joe Fussner, who was facing Catholic head coach Margaret Carey for the first time. Carey was an assistant under Fussner for four seasons, helping the Ospreys to the 2004-2005 NJAC title.  Senior forward Lisa Zak scored 18 points, and junior forward Alicia Morris scored 12 points. Sophomore transfer Lisa Neira added 10 points for RSC.
Jackie DeBorger and Lindsay DiRomualdo each led Catholic with 13 points. Shannon Mertz scored 12 points for Catholic. DeBorger had 10 turnovers.

Stockton visits Marymount in a week.

Randolph-Macon College is at Richard Stockton February 2nd -- one night after playing at Alvernia College up in Reading, PA.  That should be an interesting non-conference road trip.

Stop shouting.

Who should calm down?

My point? As I've said repeatedly, I'd like to see the CAC teams win their non-conference games and confine their losses to the league.  Do you have a different opinion on that?  The Catholic/Stockton result means MU's got a difficult non-CAC matchup next week. Or isn't that obvious to you?

As to "peeking" - if Mary Washington "looses" the rest of its games, I guess you'll be proven right that 7-0 was its "peek".

jfarchitect

Now, I get it..... that is a very good point!!!

Maybe it's the Jersey teams that have already peeked.

Matt Letourneau

What was all that about?

jfarchitect

a little confusion........i guess that's what happens when you work late.....or is it 1 too many beers.......anyway, I think the Catholic loss will give an extra incentive to the Ladies of the CAC to take care of the Jersey Girls!!!

Come NCAA selection time we need to look like a stronger conference, and maybe get 2-3 teams in.....I don't think that is a stretch......the teams in this conference not only can play good ball.....but this year they seem to pull out the win in a close game.

Marymount must want to see how it does before it makes any predictions!   :D  ;)

CUA 2001 NCAA  DIII Basketball National Champions

Matt Letourneau

By the way, the CUA strength of schedule is absolutely ridiculous. Just about everybody they've played has an excellent record.  I understand they've picked up a couple loss and they'll probably pick up a few more because this league is very good this year, but I really hope its factored in at the end of the year.

mwcsid

Don't worry, Matt, it will be... at least the region record will. The formula the NCAA looks at assigns points for wins and losses, and whether games are at home or away, and the winning percentage of the opponents. Cards have played a very good schedule with several really good wins, including Scranton, which I think gives a lot of creedence to not only the Cards, but the whole league.

St. Mary's (MD) 77, Mary Baldwin 43
