By the way, the CUA strength of schedule is absolutely ridiculous. Just about everybody they've played has an excellent record. I understand they've picked up a couple loss and they'll probably pick up a few more because this league is very good this year, but I really hope its factored in at the end of the year.

Matt -
The NCAA criteria are on line in pdf form.
Go to: http://www2.ncaa.org/media_and_events/ncaa_publications/championship_handbooks/winter/basketball/womens/
then click on: 2006 Division III Championship Handbook
on pages 15-16 is the quality of wins index (applies only to in region games). The NCAA assigns "points" for each regional game. A win is always better than a loss.  Wins at home count less than those on the road. Wins against better teams count more than those against weaker teams. A loss against a team with a good record is worth more than a loss against a team with a poor record, and a loss at home hurts more than a loss on the road.
Nice win over Dickinson  :)

I never even get on these things as I tend to believe they can really be full of it. However, I decided to log on because Stockton College is the best team we've played all year and it is obvious--and we played and beat Scranton and Scranton is very good so this has to say a lot. ...  At any rate, I want to say that Coach Fussner is the best head coach I've ever seen and I played agains him this year and it was very very difficult for the first time to root against him. However, he tuaght me all I know with coaching and this game. ... Thank you and good luck to all of you out there as this business is brutal but fun as hell.

Pat -

I did read the prediction on the front page of D3hoops.  It still had to be fulfilled. The prediction proved good - the Baltimore Sun was the first I've seen that in fact there was an invitation that was accepted. Did I miss that on D3Hoops?

#158
HONOLULU, HI - The sixteenth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's basketball team saw all twelve players score in a 75-48 win over Meredith College on Sunday at the Hoop N Surf Tournament in Honolulu, moving the Eagles record to 8-0, and tying last year's team's record of eight straight wins to open the season. The Eagles were led by All-American Debbie Bruen, who scored 17 points and added nine rebounds, and sophomore Liz Hickey, who added twelve points and six boards. Freshman Leigh Kampman had ten points and seven rebounds for the Eagles, and Jessica Shifflett added seven points. UMW held just a 32-27 lead at halftime, but committed just three second half turnovers and shot 50% from three point range (4-8) to push the final margin to 27 points. The Eagles will take on NAIA school Concordia (Neb.) on Monday at 11 am Hawaiian time.

Meanwhile, Catholic lost by 2 to Christopher Newport, which next plays Mary Washington. Catholic ends the year undefeated at DuFour Center, but without a win on the road, perhaps fulfilling a prediction:
Quote from: Matt Letourneau on December 04, 2005, 08:01:56 PMBut an alternative explanation for the results that have been mentioned is simply, "the home team won."

It was on the front page of the site on Monday evening, yes. Still is:

QuoteOne of those schools is Villa Julie, which has been trying to get into the league for the better part of the past decade. The school confirmed its acceptance of a slot in the CAC on Monday evening.

With the defection of Catholic and Goucher will the CAC look to only replace those two schools or is there a chance for expansion of the conference?

Sophomore center Liz Hickey record her first career triple-double with 23 points, ten rebounds, and ten blocked shots in Mary Washington's victory over Concordia (Neb.) College last week. Also in double figures for the Eagles were Debbie Bruen and Sarah Flanagan, with twelve points each.
