I assume it was you wearing the sweatshirt with d-mac on the front at the UMW/Gooucher game?

Can't say that I was!

I was just a bit better dressed than that!

Why are the Catholic woman listed as 10-3 in the region? One of their losses is at Christopher Newport who is from the south. Shouldn't they be listed as 10-2 in the region?

In the NCAA regional rankings, a team's regional record includes games against teams that are in the region and also games against opponents from schools that are located within a certain distance from the original team's school.

#2 Washington U and #4 George Fox lost last night. #5 Mary Washington should move up if not upset by York today.

Pat Coleman

This is the third season in which a regional game has been defined in this way. It's listed in the FAQ.

This is used in all sports...
It's funny, for example, Lebanon Valley is 199 miles from Mary Washington, so it's in-region. I wanted to call the NCAA and ask if we went the long way around the beltway if it could be considered as out of region, since we lost to them.
:o

Pat Coleman

You wouldn't believe the lobbying I get from coaches to list a game as in-region or out of region, depending on the results. The funny thing is, it's black and white, it either is or it isn't, and I am using the same tool the NCAA is. Our opinion of whether a game is regional or non-regional doesn't mean a thing.

I had a coach recently tell me, paraphrasing, 'the NCAA says this game is 203 miles'. But of course, that's only true if the NCAA is using Mapquest, which it specifically is NOT.

The real distance is 186, exactly as I told them. The NCAA confirmed it for me.

UMW 77, York 73 in OT

Freshman guard Katy Larson scored eight of her 14 points in overtime to lead five Eagles in double figures, as the fifth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's basketball team topped a tough York squad, 77-73, in overtime on Saturday to improve to 16-0 on the season, and 6-0 in Capital Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles led, 32-24 at halftime, but York knotted the game with five seconds left in regulation on a layup by Chanel Perez. The Eagles took charge in overtime, as UMW got ahead, and went 9-10 from the free throw line in the extra frame.
The Eagles were led by sophomore center Liz Hickey, who had 16 points, seven rebounds, and seven blocked shots. Larson had 14 points and four assists, Debbie Bruen added twelve points and eight boards, and Amanda Bates and Kaitie Clarkin each scored ten for UMW. Kristen Daly scored a career-high 27 points for York.
UMW will host Marymount University on Wednesday at 6 pm in another Capital Athletic Conference showdown.

UMW-York. UGLY game. York came to play and the Eagles looked out-of-sync. Refs were terrible both ways. Too many turnovers and missed shots. But it's a "W".  :)

How about St. Mary's handing Salisbury their 2nd CAC loss. It's getting interesting........

UMW/York
York's Daly had a career high 27 points, 11-24 from the field & 5-5 FT.
UMW's Lisa Tracey didn't play, illness.
York outrebounded Eagles who turned it over a lot, often unforced.

Definitely not pretty, but then again, all Ws are prettier than Ls.

CUA's DeBorger had a quite good game against Gallaudet. She scored 16 out of total 24 points in first half. 6-6 FG, 4-4 3FG in 11 minutes. At end of the game, she got 9-12 FG, 6-8 3FG in just 18 minutes for game high 24 points to led Cardinals win over the Bison, 75-33.

Pride, what's up with Gally only having 5 players dressed for the game? I have never seen that before---those girls must have been exhausted! I was wondering what would happen if one got hurt or fouled out.  I would think they could find a few more bodies at least, even if they aren't particularly talented...

CUA tried to pull back in that game and pulled their starters pretty early, but aside from taking a shot clock violation every trip, not much you can do.

Interesting to note that UMW has only played 4 Home games so far this season. I think all that "Road" play has benefited this team. 6 of the remaining 9 Regular Season games are at Home. Tough one on Wednesday as Marymount comes a calling.

UMW ranked #4 in the latest D3 Hoops Poll. Would've thought they would get #3 this week. Guess 2 Loss Wash U. gets more Love. Maybe the scare at York kept em from moving up higher.

I guess it's about their reputation...
Also, Scranton (2nd) is 14-1, with their lone loss - an 8 pt loss to Catholic.
