Are those beards ten inches long yet???
UMW is hosting a "Locks for Love" benefit on Feb. 18, to raise money and get hair donations for children with cancer...
But the donations have to be ten inches long!!!
(insert smiley face with a big beard here)

Yeah, maybe she hates basketball.  Or basketball players, I don't know.

(Dude--I was being facetious anyway--I was talking about having her on the team bus since she does all our games anyway)...

So in conclusion, I wouldn't want her on the bus.

cuabigdog

so any suggestions on an ALL CAC team yet

POY  CUA--Kristen Linderoth/ UMW Liz Hickey

]ROY  CUA--Kristen  Linderoth
COY  (3rd yr)  UMW  Denna Applebury/ (1st yr) CUA Margaret Carey

ALL CAC

CUA --Kristen Linderoth/Shannon Mertz
UMW--Debbie Bruen/Liz Hickey
SAL--Christen Barny
York--Keli Ward/Kisten Daly
CUA 2001 NCAA  DIII Basketball National Champions

For POY Linderoth might be a stretch, but she should definetly be canidate and she should be the leading canidate for ROY. I think COY will most likely go to Coach Applebury if UMW wins the CAC Championship, and likewise for Coach Carey( if CUA wins the conference championship). If Catholic wins the CAC that is huge a win for the Cards because they will finally prove they can win on the road. UMW is a very young team and have the potential to go to the dance the next 3 years with CUA leaving the conference, and the great job Coach Applebury has done with recruiting.
Go Cards!!!

Catholic's never won the CAC  :D, so saying it would be "huge" for it to win it on the road this year is an understatement  ;)

Is that Robert E. Lee on the Right? :)

Yes, Suh.

The General still holds Marye's Heights and now defends Goolrick.  ;D

Final from St. Mary's ....

York 76-St. Mary's 74

I am biased but when a 5-6 (if that) point guard leads the conference in assists AND rebounding as a freshman, I would think she would be the frontrunner for ROY.
Kristen Daly leads York with 21 points while Keli Ward adds 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

Linderoth is good but what does she do other than score? (Just asking, I don't really have time to look up the stats, I am too busy posting up :)

Quite a few of UMW's freshmen would be the Rookie of the Year if they played more than 20 minutes per game... Clarkin, Larson, Kampman... They would all have very strong per-game numbers if they played 35 min. a game.

cuadude92

Linderoth is a very good defender and is a rebounding machine. I seriosly think she has a chance at CUA's all-time rebounding record.
Go Cards!!!

UMW was up 8 at halftime at SAL in the "almost" primetime game today...

UMW up 20 with eight minutes left in Salisbury...

mwcsid

UMW 72, SAL 54
Freshman Leigh Kampman scored 14 points and added seven rebounds, and junior forward Debbie Bruen scored 14 points and added six boards in leading the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 72-54 victory at Salisbury University on Saturday evening, improving the Eagles' record to 22-0 overall and 12-0 in Capital Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles shot 45.5% from the floor, and had seven different players with two assists each. UMW held Salisbury to 27% shooting from the floor, and the Eagles committed just five second half turnovers.

Yeah Linderdoth does a lot more than score...she has great hands inside and is an excellent rebounder (I believe she's up near 5 a game).  Keep in mind Shannon Mertz is grabbing a lot of rebounds that Linderoth would get.

To me, she's gotta be ROY---I'd go as far as to call her the difference maker for Catholic.  She's the best freshman woman I've ever seen play at Catholic.

eaglemaniac

So who nominates the POY/ROY and the weekly award winners? Is it the coaches or SID's ?
I may not always be Right........But I'm never Wrong!

Halftime at Goolrick:
UMW 50, Frostburg 22

FSU has just four field goals at halftime.

Olinger leads the way with 17 for UMW.
