I have never made a post like this, so hopefully, everyone will realize how bad it was up here...
The officiating was so bad, that both coaches immediately commented on it after the game in the press conference, even though the NCAA tells them not to during the coaches' meeting before the game. I mean - aren't you setting yourself up for failure by telling the coaches BEFORE the game not to talk about officiating? Why don't they spend that time getting something better than a middle school officiating crew?
You don't mind losing to a better squad... But to have it taken from you stings.
Hickey played eleven minutes! Her second foul occurred when a Bowdoin player backed up into her in the paint and gave Liz a bloody nose. If it weren't so dang awful, it would have been funny. And every time we went to the post, we got mugged. All-CAC players do not miss layups by missing the rim and backboard unless there's an arm or three hitting them.
Well, the land of rain and fog has its matchup between Bowdoin and Southern Maine, who also got some home cooking against Bridgewater in game two. Seems that everyone is happy now except the people who flew up here and got jobbed. Maybe one day we'll have a facility that can house a sectional so we won't have to go through this again.
Kudos to Jenno - a great senior year and a great career. Even though she was always overshadowed, she was a great leader who scored about 900 points in a career that saw her play a big role on turning an under .500 team to one of the elite programs in the nation. Head up Jenno!!!

Unlike some others, particulary over at the men's board, I never see a problem with talking about officiating when it has an impact on the outcome of the game.

Clearly, it did here.  That's really too bad.  I'm sorry the Eagles lost and I'm really sorry they lost because of officiating.  It is hard to envision a scenario where there is such a free throw discrepancy between two aggressive teams.  I'm a BC Eagles fan, it sounds like the BC-Duke game this year where BC kept pounding the ball inside to their All-ACC first teamer Craig Smith, who was getting killed--and shot 0 free throws.

Well, making it to the Sweet 16 is a great accomplishment, and given the makeup of the team this won't be their last trip.

Portland Maine paper has Bowdoin coach both commenting on the foul shot discrepancy & saying how nice it was to play in Maine

Thank you Lady Eagles for a wonderful season - a pleasure to watch - and the best in school history ('til next year  ;)).

Thanks, too, to D3Hoops for the radio coverage of the Sweet 16.  Without your efforts, D3 wouldn't be the same. I've been amazed at the number of people who have said they listened to your broadcast of the UMW game against Bowdoin and to other games, too.

You're welcome, and I'll let our broadcaster, Mark Simon, know this message is here.

It was a special year for us too, with broadcasts of seven of the eight sectionals. I hope we can continue to bring key games to listeners everywhere.

The front page article on the "nomination of the top shot blocker in Division III history, Cori Carson, who recorded 485 blocks at Upsala and Marymount" caught my eye.  A prediction: if she stays healthy, soph Liz Hickey of UMW will own the record when she graduates. She blocked 104 as a freshman, and has 46 in nine games as a sophomore.  ;D

UMW sophomore Liz Hickey blocked 244 shots in two seasons, already shattering the UMW career record, and she is on pace to break the national career record.

Hearty Congratulations to Marymount's (now former) assistant Candice Brown on her head coaching appointment at Manhattanville  :)
