Anyone know what NCAA is doing to Kean??

Brookland

BigMac,
The latest I have been able to find is here:
http://www.keantower.com/kean-imposes-self-sanctions-for-soccer-volleyball-teams-after-ncaa-violations-report-1.2623762
It appears that their troubles are not limited to women's basketball. It also appears that their appearance before the NCAA sanctions folks won't happen until next March, if I read this correctly. (There's nothing like swift justice!  ;) )

So the coach is still at Kean?  How about the players that had grades changed?

sumfun

Wow, what a mess, and such bad lessons learned from watching the actions of adult leaders.  I really feel for the kids in soccer and volleyball.

Brookland

Don't you love it?
"The fifth violation cited an excessive number of scholarships rewarded to student-athletes under the Dr. James E. Dorsey Scholarship program, and the school took immediate and extraordinary measures to punish itself for that lesser infraction."
Punish itself?! No administrator or coach involved in the misdeeds bears a single consequence, while every athlete who received a scholarship loses all support, and several entire teams who were hardly involved get punished?!
Can you spell "WINDOW DRESSING"? How about "INNOCENT VICTIM"?
I think I'd like to retract my earlier statement that dismissal of multiple Kean administrators and coaches would be appropriate. It's beginning to look like public execution would be a better option.  ;D If it weren't for all the kids who are suffering from this, it would be hilarious. Hmmm, I'm envisioning a new Woody Allen movie - or would that be a remake of the old Keystone Kops, with the NCAA in the title role?

Can anyone tell me how Sharp is still coaching Kean??  What she did, made what Tressel for Ohio state did look like stealing a bag of 50 cent M&M's from the Ohio state bookstore and they ran him out of town.  What am I missing here??

mytwocents

Anyone know why Naimah Clemons has not played in the last few games for Kean?

Pat Coleman

Oh boy. No. But any players missing time for Kean in any sport this year are automatically going to trigger certain thoughts.

So the Kean head coach, Michele Sharp was fired today. What a disgrace!!!
Can someone explain to me why she was allowed to coach this year and why their season was not suspended?

7express

Anyone know whether they have a postseason ban this year??  I know reading the stories earlier I was pretty pissed that my school (Western Connecticut) lost to them in the tournament last year using ineligible players.

Also, why would they fire the coach now??  She should've been fired as soon as the story broke which was in early July, why would you fire her know midway through the season??  The whole situation seems screwed up.

I agree w/ 7 express. The whole thing smells. Why now?
Unfortunately this may affect players who thought they were playing for a great WBB program.
All the games they played last year and this year(15-3) should be disqualified.

I see they had a rematch w/ Amherst this week and lost, but at least one of the cheaters from Kean played. How are they even ranked(19th)?

They team should be disqualified and their season suspended. What a disgrace!!
