LOL, welcome!  It would be great if I could relinquish that honorific, or at least not talk to myself here!

I'll try to do better and join you.  I plan to attend as many games in person as I can this season after catching the bug last year.

TU has a really nice venue in a fun part of town.  A great reason for an outing!

Go Tigers!

Do have a soft spot for Trinity, my son and I visited in 2018 and spent a few days with Coaches McGinlay and Cartee and saw close up, what is a very well run and successful programme.  The playing field is a great set up and rounds off what would be a great place to spend four years, both academically and athletically.

It's gotten better and better since I left in 1987.  I've grown to enjoy nearly all of the teams and they are all very competitive.

I still wish they'd kept DI tennis.  It was a treat back in the day to see Stanford, Texas, and so on come to Trinity and lose.

I've also attended football games at beautiful venues such as Millsaps, Rhodes, Washington U, and Texas Lutheran.  Lots of good reasons to hit the road and explore!

D3Navy, Jay, if either of you have any insight into what things look like for the upcoming season, head on over to the 2022 D3 Men's Soccer National Perspective board and weigh in.  Absent the roster being posted it's hard to know who's back and who's not, especially given the extra year of COVID eligibility for last year's seniors.

D3Navy

Ron, no unique insight, unfortunately.  But based on observations last season a couple of things:

- Jacob Galan will be missed on defense (if he's, in fact, gone).  He was the most powerful player on the field when he was in.  One could almost sense the confidence from the rest of the players that he would shut down the opposition.

- Michael Meese is back (as far as I know).  He brings the same offensive confidence that Galan brought on defense.

- Hunter Cain is known but still underrated.  I can still picture an arching goal from near midfield that he scored last season.  It was a bolt from this relatively slight, sneaky player.  May be the key piece of the team's success this season.

- I expect Chen Adjei to blossom.  Already a force but he'll shine in 2022.

I'm biased but will still go over to the perspective board to post this.  Can't wait to get back downtown in a few weeks!

Not to mention John McEnroe's only collegiate loss came at the hands of Trinity's Larry Gottfried.

Another thing I didn't know about Trinity!  McEnroe's last collegiate match was the NCAA final his frosh year at Stanford that he won in a classic duel against John Sadri from NC State who I sort of played against when I was at Davidson.  A couple years later I watched Sadri take Borg to 4 sets on center court at US Open.

Anyone interested in participating in the D3soccer Fan poll this season?

If you are interested in participating, I will run the poll again if we get enough pollsters. My only caveat is that if you agree to participate you try your best to do it every week so that things are consistent. Also, you try to be on time because it's no fun for anyone if I have to track you down every week and pester you to get your votes in.

Unless someone has a better idea, I'll run it the same as last year with the same deadlines, so the poll will include games that start before Sunday at midnight EST and will be due to me before Tuesday EST at midnight and I will try to post on Wednesday.

I will not do a preseason poll. I hate them. They set up a ton of positional bias and, especially with 400+ teams in D3, there simply is no way to do a good one. The first poll will be based on games played prior to 9/11 and will be due to me on 9/13. That gives us roughly 2 weeks of games to start making judgements.

If you are interested, and I realize we about 2 weeks out, please send me a PM. I hope we get our pollsters back from last year, as they did an excellent job, but if you want to join in, I'm always open to more!

Any insights into why Michael Meese is apparently not playing tonight at Mary Hardin-Baylor?

The team is finally playing a dominating game, however.  I hope it continues.

TU up 2-0 with 40 minutes left in the 2nd period.

D3Navy

Well.

3-2 UMHB final.

A lot of work ahead for the Tigers, most of it mental, it seems.

Anyone have any insight into Michael Meese's status with Trinity?  He has not been playing.

No idea.  Some of us have been wondering the same thing in the Go WEST thread (where I sometimes discuss the SCAC since there are so few of us interested in Region X as it is).  He hasn't played since the first three games of the season.

D3Navy

Thanks.

I'll check out the other thread as well.

My intel is he is out for the year, and has been in that situation for at least 1 month
