I am not defending TLU in this, but look over the past couple of seasons at St. Thomas. Too many times they are over the edge.
And that was a pre meditated dirty as hell tackle that broke the TLU player's leg.

No. 25 for St Thomas, Daniel Malheiros, is not on the 2023 web page roster for St Thomas. He's the player who received the red card for the nasty challenge on the TLU player with about 11 minutes left in the game. Daniel Malheiros is listed on the 2022 St Thomas roster as a Freshman from Brazil. He has no statistics for this year. I have no idea what this means. I was only looking because I was interested in his yellow and red card history.

...and the audio captured of the coach yelling at a player.....he was speaking to Danny from what I could hear.......his soccer days may have ended as a result of on and off field actions....

stlawus

Don't think it was the coach though, the guy yelling sounded like he was in the press box.

TLU soccer just put up an Instagram post about Jorge Ugaz, the player who was taken to the hospital after being fouled in the box during yesterday's game

UPDATE:  I went back and looked at the Instagram post again and several St. Thomas players had liked it, including Daniel and Tony Castro (the brothers who scored the tying and winning goals), as well as one of the UST stars from last year's team, Ayomide Salako.  Nice to see.

Although #25 was the one given the red card, a protest has been filed for mistaken identity.  The player who committed the tackle was #30.

USC Regional Rankings for Region X

https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/college-rankings/ncaa-diii-men-x/

Region X - Poll 4 - October 3, 2023
Rank    School    Prev    W-L-T
1    Texas Lutheran University    3    11-0-0
2    Colorado College    8    7-2-1
3    University of Saint Thomas (Texas)    1    7-1-1
4    Trinity University (Texas)    2    6-1-2
5    Occidental College    4    8-1-1
6    University of Redlands    5    7-1-1
7    Pacific Lutheran University    6    5-1-4
8    California Lutheran University    NR    4-1-4

Colorado College jumps all the way from 8 to 2 after beating St. Thomas. Occidental drops one spot from 4 to 5 after the tie to Cal Lutheran, which enters the rankings at 8. Pacific Lutheran drops from 6 to 7 after tying Pacific. Redlands drops from 5 to 6 after tying Pomona-Pitzer.  Southwestern drops out completely after losing big to Trinity.

I think we're at the point where the top of Region X has separated itself from the rest of the pack.  Normally some of these results would drop teams more than they did, but there just aren't a lot of other options and only Colorado College has more than 1 loss currently.  CMS is 4-2-2 and could get back into it, but they have tied or lost to four teams in the regional rankings and also to Chapman, which isn't on this list.  Chapman's tie to La Verne and loss to UC Santa Cruz rules them out.  Willamette's loss to Whitworth rules it out.  Whitworth, at 6-3-1, has a better chance of making an appearance on the rankings next, but its losses to Cal Lu, UC Santa Cruz, and Pacific Lutheran, and tie to Puget Sound, are keeping them out right now.  No one in the ASC appears to deserve it.

Region X - Poll 5 - October 10, 2023
Rank    School    Prev    W-L-T
1    Texas Lutheran University    1    12-1-0
2    Colorado College    2    7-2-1
3    Trinity University (Texas)    4    8-1-2
4    Pacific Lutheran University    7    7-1-4
5    Southwestern University    NR    6-1-3
6    University of Saint Thomas (Texas)    3    8-2-1
7    University of Redlands    6    9-1-1
8    Occidental College    5    8-2-2

St. Thomas drops after losing to Southwestern, as does Occidental, which lost to UC Santa Cruz and tied Chapman.  Texas Lutheran remains up top despite losing to St. Thomas, which is a bit unusual, but it's hard to argue that anyone else really grabbed the spot since last week.  Southwestern moves back in after beating St. Thomas.  Colorado College has a huge chance to take the top spot after this weekend when they host Southwestern on Friday and Texas Lutheran (without at least their starting GK for his misadventures in head butting against St. Thomas) on Sunday.

And still no recap from St. Thomas.

Is it possible St Thomas has played its last match of the season?  Not scheduled to play again until Friday.

No recap, but yet no one has taken down the video.

Rumor that UST coach fired?

Clerihew is still listed as head coach on the website.  He has a strong resume, by the way, having come to St. Thomas when it was still an NAIA school after a couple of years as top assistant at Yale and before that head coach at DII power Franklin Pierce.  Sort of unusual that he would have gone to St. Thomas in the first place.

Looks like games still scheduled ROS - it does seem like team get one week off without a midday game so that may be all it is. Interesting on no recap - the TLU site has a recap from their perspective.  Summary didn't really mention the foul or the player (which was one of the nastier challenges I've seen - that somehow didn't even get called????).

I watched it over and over.  There is no excuse for a player to run from 30 to 40 yards away with no chance of winning the ball and ...

FYI, SCAC conference games are normally Fri/Sun and once conference play starts there aren't a lot of other games because the only other conference in reasonable distance is the ASC, who play Thurs/Sat and there's a lot of bus travel as it is to cover both conferences given the geography involved.
