I think a Utica vs. Hobart ECAC bowl is pretty likely. Will see Monday.
I agree, as travel time would not be an issue for Utica. I am  assuming Hobart would be the home team. This would be a very nice competitive game to cap the season for both teams . Brockport would also be cool. But gotta beat the Yellowjackets, who cannot be taken lightly by the Statesmen.

Anyone care to predict the outcomes of the 2021 ECAC Bowl games?

Anybody know what the deal is with how the ECAC field was seeded???

There are three 8-2 teams but two of them are playing each other meaning automatically that one of them is on the road. Then, the third 8-2 team is also on the road!!!

There are only two 7-3 teams who are both at home while two of the three 8-2 teams are travelling!!!

Even one of the two 6-4 teams is hosting!!!

It does not appear that these odd pairings save a whole lot of travel time or money.

Here in Troy we have gotten pretty used to things that are bats but this one, at least on the surface, takes the cake.

I don't know how they were seeded.

If I had to guess the matchups are designed to have some cross region games instead of local ones.  Then there are some schools who are ready to host (have the staff and field ready to go) and are willing to organize the game.  Don't really think records matter that much.  I think if there are eight teams, you want the top two teams playing if possible, and the 7th and 8th teams playing if possible.

Maybe ITH can fill us in.

Ha would love a handicapper to pick these things.

I think the only favorite in my mind would be Grove City over Utica?

Hobart/Westminster should be an interesting game.  I randomly remember watching film of Buffalo State playing Westminster back when I played.  Just looked it up.  Westminster was an old NAIA d2 powerhouse beating some good d3 and d2 teams in the NCAA (Buff State, Allegheny and Clarion).  Also noticed they beat Hardin-Simmons in the NAIA playoffs back in 1993.  Go back further and they beat UW-Lacrosse in the NAIA d2 national championship in 1988.  Anyway some interesting football history with Westminster that I never knew.

St. Vinnie going to FDU.....?  No clue.

Brockport and W&J could be a good game.  Looks like the PAC kind of beat each other up there with the Mellon heads coming out on top.

Scouting Report on Brockport?

bports

A great defense and a very good running game. Passing offense is a work in progress. No one can run on there D and the ball has to come out quick if you throw the ball.

Really need to wait for both the declaration deadline (11/7) and the 11/12 results to really get any kind of handle on this thing. A loss by Salisbury against Christopher Newport this Saturday and they would be out of the NCAA and in the ECACs', possibly as a 3 seed behind Utica and Washington and Jefferson. Neither of those are playing anyone this Saturday who is likely to beat them and both are undefeated at 2-0 against the rest of the likely suspects above.

Then, with or without Salisbury, it gets totally nuts and I would not want to be on the committee that has to sort this mess out.

The next five (Brockport, Westminster, Morrisville, RPI and Grove City) are all 6-3 and only one (RPI) is playing someone who can beat them on Saturday. The other four are all playing tomato cans. Brockport and Westminster are not only the first two teams at 6-3 on the SOS list but are also the only 6-3 teams holding wins over other 6-3 teams (Morrisville and Grove City). So one would figure Brockport and Westminster would be the 6-3s' that get the upper middle seeds while Morrisville and Grove City would get the seeds toward the end of the list.

Then there is RPI whose present SOS is fourth among the 6-3s'. A fourth loss would probably drop them behind all four of the teams in the previous paragraph. However, a win against a quality opponent could very well spike their SOS enough to vault them past all four of the above.

All of this, of course, assumes no additional worthy 6-3 teams (like Case Western, Union or Hobart) get a declaration in before the 11/7 deadline. Then it would get beyond nuts.

Hobart got in under the wire, so now there are 5 potential 7-3 teams in the hopper. Going to be interesting.

Actually, it is six potential 7-3 teams. If all six do end up 7-3, the only way they can all get in is if Salisbury wins their game and goes to the NCAAs'.

Best guess as to which one would get dropped is Grove City who already has the lowest SOS of the six and is finishing against a 1-8 team with an SOS of 459.

UNION will not be participating in any ECAC Bowl games again this year because the college is on a Tri-semester system (3x10 week terms instead of the traditional 2x15) and fall final exams are Nov.11-17th. For the Dutchmen recently it's been NCAA's or nothing.  ::)

ECAC games have been released! 2 from the E8 and 2 from the LL are among the field. Morrisville travels to RPI. https://ecacsports.com/news/2022/11/14/football-ecac-announces-2022-division-iii-bowl-game-pairings.aspx

These games will be interesting for the LL participants . I think the RPI defense should make this a tough game for the Mustangs. Hobart , while losing the game on two insane turnovers, held the Mustangs to 167 yards of offense while Hobart moved for 349 yards but only generated 13 points. I'm expecting an RPI Defense to hold the line; however, the question is always whether the RPI offense will show up.
Hobart travels to a strong PAC member in W&J, and hopefully they will have another happy bus coming back to Geneva, when they beat Westminster last year .W&J is a great test and will make  this up and down season a "feel good" year. with a win.
