Lance Nelson is graduating from North Park in May. NPU is moving to the all-online format for a lot of its graduate programs, which means that the opportunity to finish one's athletic career as a graduate student will be significantly reduced going forward at NPU. Thus, Lance will be moving on to seek out a place to play his final season of eligibility as a grad student.

@JamieShaw5 NEWS: Brandeis (D-III) wing Toby Harris has committed to Iona, source tells @On3sports. The 6-8 grad transfer averaged 18.8 points and shot 40.4% 3P on on 6.7 per game attempts this season.

Hampton Sanders is entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility.  With rumors that Klatsky is likely headed to D1 (rumored now as an assistant at Florida) plus NYU now set to lose its top seven guys without a large pool of 5th years guys to pull from as a potential replacements, NYU may have one of the most dramatic drop-offs we've seen for a team that made a national title game ...

I'm too lazy to look, but I'd like to know if there was ever a team to win the Naty, get the #1 preseason ranking the following year and then miss the tournament. Point had a big drop-off after they won the 2015 Naty. They finished 14-12.

This year I believe Trine was preseason number 1 and didn't make tournament

Agree and Sanders at the final 4 was by far the NYU best player and was going to be mvp until trinity came back and won.

Between the significant number of sophomores and juniors entering the portal and the new roster limits for schools that opt-in to the settlement, NYU and Case Western Reserve could pick up a bunch of undergraduate transfers.

For NYU, if Hampton Sanders does transfer, the Violets will be one of the crazier rebuild stories with really only Bryan Moussako (13-15 mpg, 4 ppg) and Quinn Clark (injured this season) returning from the rotation.

CWRU may be even crazier with freshman Matthew Ellis (17 mpg, 6.5 ppg) leading the way from the rotation.  No other returning player averaged more than 11 minutes per game.

Another big name in the transfer portal, CMS's A.J. Rohosy, who certainly has the profile of a guy who can (return to) D1 next year, except this time, on scholarship.

To illustrate just how different D3 is going to look next year, of the 36 scoring average leaders last year, 26 are out of eligibility, and at least six (Tye-Rell Monroe, Justin Allen, Charles Nelson, Ken Walker, EJ Matthews-Spratley, and AJ Rohosy) are in the portal.  All of those guys should be pretty safe bets for at least a D2 ride I'd expect.

The D3 hoops all-American list tells a similar story: only three out of 25 seem likely to return, with Regan, Rohosy, and Harris three others with eligibility but all in the portal.  And of course, lots of high-profile teams many of whom went deep into the tournament suffer massively impactful personnel losses this year and in many cases look likely to be very different teams (NYU, Platteville, Wisconsin Lutheran, WPI, Wesleyan, IWU, Keene State, Wash U., WNEC, Catholic, etc.).  Just about the only thing that is a sure thing right now is that Trinity (CT) is flat loaded for the third year in a  row.  There are going to be a ton of new faces next year, though, for sure.

Perhaps it would be more instructive to look at CWRU's per game stats for UAA play.

Andy Barba               9 gs 25.8 min 11.7 pts GR  (only played 2 seasons at Duquesne so potential 1 yr left)
Matthew Ellis             0    21.1           7.2     FY
Anand Dharmarajan  7    17.4           7.2     JR
Andrew Fox               5    13.5           3.5     SR (only played 2 seasons at RIT so potential 1 yr left)

Aaron Rucker JR also started 6 games

My post was more cursory glance, than detailed analysis.

And looking later in to the season, particularly after the two graduate transfers went down with injury, is going to reveal more about the guys returning next season.

On paper, it looks like one of the crazier rebuilds for the coaching staff, but I'll stand corrected if the talent is there or incoming.

Barba would not be the first Spartan to be celebrated on Senior Day only to return the next season.

And Rucker looks like a guy with potential, but even with the six starts, he played sparingly.
