That's all fine...as long as it's understood that no one has disrespected Chicago in the least.  Quite the contrary.

We are in agreement, no one has slighted them. UChicago has gotten its recognition due this year. Messiah is equally deserving of the top spot. My bigger point was UChicago can take a loss or two, drop some spots in the rankings, and still be just as good a team as we thought. Ultimately wins in November are the end goal.

Every poll is an exercise in bias.  Bias for which teams one believes to be ranked, and where.

Re: Messiah specifically.  After watching them dismantle Christopher Newport, I am more convinced than ever of their #1 spot.  I think they are more dynamic and lethal on the attack than Chicago.  Now can Chicago beat Messiah in a single game?  Of course, I think Chicago is a fantastic team but think their strength rests on their outstanding defensive posture.

But from an attacking perspective, Messiah can put the ball in the back of the net in any which way.  Dead ball, run of play, corners ... and do so at lightning speed.

Hence why I am sticking to #1.

Because you (SC), kuiper and I seem to be banging this drum:

Was watching the Scranton v. Goucher game, and for Scranton's second goal (I think), the Goucher keeper came off his line and could've EASILY just basket-caught a lofted cross. Instead, he kind of flap-punched it about 8 yards to his right. Scranton player collects it, and proceeds to knock it back a few yards to a player outside the box. Dude lifts his head up, spanks the ball with the outside of his boot(!) into the far side netting. Beautiful goal... That never should've happened.

SC, just watching Around D3 now...

Love the coffee segment!  And, please tell me you didn't cheat, Rochester IS a Barnes and Noble bookstore!

Thanks @PaulNewman!  Appreciate the feedback.  Re: Barnes and Noble, I honestly had no idea.  None.

As a safeguard against deep shame, I had to check to make sure Kenyon does not have a B&N bookstore.  Thank goodness they don't.

Fact: The Bookstore is the nation's longest continuously operating college bookstore and the third-oldest bookstore of any kind in America.

This does not excuse them from the whole pay wall thing ... By the by, Moravian, from what I understand, has the oldest bookstore in the US.  The things you learn from Fields of Dreams!

SC, the quote in purple is from the Kenyon website, not UR...thankfully the Owls do not have a paywall OR a B&N bookstore.

And Kenyon and Moravian cannot both have the longest running college bookstore so we'll have to get a few of the folks in the research department to look into that.

I am still angry at the whole Lords/Owls thing.  May sting for awhile ....

A battle over who has the oldest bookstore is PEAK D3 sports smack talk.

(I know you guys aren't talking smack, you get what I'm saying.)

LOL!  I just emailed the Kenyon bookstore.  I NEED ANSWERS!

Seriously, I am disturbed by how normal I say (or write) some things and then (sometimes) catch myself afterwards.  Like, did I really share that I watched a good portion of UWEC at Augsburg??!!  I caught myself a week ago after I said something about W&L outshooting Sewanee 22-2 despite only winning 1-0 as I, basically apologetically, demurred that I had not actually seen that game.  Oh wow, buddy, you missed the W&L-Sewanee game?  Slacker. Really, really crazy when I think about it but I don't want to think about it.  "Hey guys, I know you're watching The Voice or American Idol here and the boys are watching Steelers vs Patriots down in the basement, but if it's OK with everyone I'm going to watch UWEC @ Augsburg."  That is literally insane....but ya know, I'm a "voter" so I have responsibilities, including very close tracking of how many unlucky inadvertent handballs Chicago has suffered this season as a required part of my data assessment.

Which, quite frankly, is why I pulled my hat out of the ring this year. I'm already getting side-eyed from my wife while following just the Mid-Atlantic... If I let my "hobby" drift further from those shores, I'd be pushing the limits big time.

Maybe I'm not supposed to say this but I don't watch those games because I'm in a little fan poll group.  And that's the problem. I don't have any justification at all...not even a silly one.

I share your pain.  Thinking we need some type of 12 step program......

Re: Moravian and from their website - Moravian Book Shop - Founded in 1745, the Moravian Book Shop is the oldest bookstore in America, the oldest continuously operating bookstore in the world and home to the Moravian University student bookstore

The Moravian Book Shop does NOT claim to be the oldest college bookstore, just the oldest bookstore.  While it currently is also home to the college/university bookstore, it does not say that was always the case. And, in fact, Moravian University had is roots in Nazareth, PA about the same time the Book Shop was founded in Bethlehem, PA.  The educational institution remained in Nazareth for over a century before gradually relocating to Bethlehem, PA.

Kenyon does NOT claim to have the oldest bookstore, or even the first (oldest) college bookstore, only the longest continuously operating college bookstore.

So, they both can simultaneously be completely accurate.
