Oneonta over New Paltz 1-0 however NP showed they could hang with Oneonta.
Oneonta scores a gift goal, NP GK received a pass back and took a heavy touch right to an
Oneonta forward who was able to touch it around GK and deposited into open net.
NP slight edge in play but gave the ball away numerous times but still had a slight edge.
In the first half NP had two clear shots within the box and hit it right at Oneonta Gk both times. Oneonta benched 3 players who started game after 30-35 min into the game, never returned to game.

Plattsburgh with a strong second half dominates Potsdam. Plattsburgh having a strong start.
Potsdam 1 SOG and 1 Corner entire game. Plattsburgh team to keep an eye on.

Oswego off to a disappointing start losing to Nazareth 0-2

Cortland rolls on 4-0 over Ithaca

Oneonta with a late goal to beat Geneseo 2-1 to stay unbeaten. End of game red cards one for each team. Hard to see on video but appears the Geneseo player came in studs up tackle on Oneonta player who retaliated. Both play out of conference games matches Wednesday.

Cortland rolls over Fredonia 7-0 match was over 25 min into match. Cortland getting on a roll.

Plattsburgh drew Brockport 0-0. A slight surprise as Plattsburgh had been playing well.
Brockport appears to have a strong squad again as one of their best players injured last season is back and looks good.

After losing a tough one to Oneonta, New Paltz beats Buffalo 2-0 and gets back on track
NP got out of the gate slow first 25 min. or so, but converted a PK later in first half, foul was obvious. Second goal headed in off a direct free kick. Buffalo played a lot of direct diagonal balls to their forwards once their backs got within 10-15 yards of midfield. Buffalo forwards were skilled, their midfield was okay and had a really good centerback, (i believe he was #5). Buffalo will upset a team or two.

Looking like another season where the path to win the SUNYACs will run through Oneonta & Cortland. Oneonta have only conceded 2 goals so far while Cortland has 29 goals scored on the season. Very excited to watch that game next Wednesday (10/4 - 4pm @ Cortland).

New Paltz have shown that they can keep it clean in the back (only 3 goals conceded so far) - which can keep them in any match. Plattsburgh @ New Paltz tomorrow evening will be an opportunity for both teams to make their case as a contender this season.

Brockport is a team that does have a bit of talent and if history has shown anything, they are capable of catching fire and making a run. The numbers show that this is more of a balanced team (10 goals for vs. 9 goals against). Good chance for them to build momentum tomorrow @ Oswego ahead of their away match @ Oneonta at the weekend.

Geneseo is a team that looks decent on film but their results tell another story. Their schedule leaves more questions than answers at the moment - we will learn more about them in the upcoming weeks. If they get results against UR and/or New Paltz this week, maybe their outlook changes.

Buffalo look good from a numbers standpoint (25 goals for vs. 8 goals against), but the sentiment for this group changes as soon as you take a closer look at their schedule. Would not be surprised to see this group take some points away from teams with some of their attacking players. Much needed game vs. Fredonia tomorrow to get their first points of the season.

Oswego is another team that is keeping games competitive, but I worry that they will struggle to consistently get results without any real threat in the final third (4 goals scored). With only 5 goals conceded so far, maybe this is a team that takes enough points away from opponents to sneak in. For now, need to see more from them.

Potsdam & Fredonia - thinking that the best case scenario for these teams is to get a few results. Potsdam did not look convincing despite a weaker schedule but have managed to concede only 6 goals so far. Fredonia did get a good result in their first game of the season but have looked like their weak schedule has them ill-prepared for the SUNYACs.

That's what I have by the numbers. Anybody else with insight on how they feel the conference will shake out this season?

camosfan

thanks! hard to keep up with all the conferences.

Cortland with a beat down of Potsdam...Potsdam lost arguably their two best players, transferrred, and looks like they will be taking some lumps

Brockport looking very good agan, big strong squad....best Oswego 3-2. Oswego starting slowly if they need to pick it up excluding Potsdam match they gave up 7 goals in last three matches.

NP and Plattsburgh drew. NP had the slight edge in the first half but Plattsburgh dominatedd possession and controlled the play in the 2nd half. No adjustment by NP to Platts 6 man high press on the np side of the field forced Np to play backwards entire 2nd half creating turnovers. NP bad passes throughout the whole match. Sime bad luck in 1st fir NpP two cross bars and no call OBVIOUS handball in the platts box but Plstts hit a post...

Oneonta win & Geneseo draw played out if conference matches

I was just about to post same...TY

Cortland with a statement 3-0 win over Oneonta. Have felt since the start of this season that this was going to be the team to make a run from Region 3.

Their 4-1 loss to Rochester to open the season was largely influenced by the three PKs they conceded. They have proven to learn from this as they have yet to concede more than one goal in each of the last 11 matches (+34 goal differential in that time).

Coach Axtell has been consistently knocking on the door of the Elite 8 with five Sweet 16 appearances in the last eight seasons. They impose their will on opponents and look to be up to the challenge this season.

Crossit4fun

Cortland just keeps rolling along. I caught about 10 minutes of each of the halves versus Oneonta and similar to previous few matches where Cortland (Coach Axtell) adjusts and dominates second halves.

Brockport right now appears to be the next best, big physical squad. New Paltz up next for Brockport.

Brockport will get a shot at Cortland in a week, a must watch.

Geneseo brings Cortland back down to earth. Cortland still in 1st but Geneseo shows why they're tough to play at home.  How about Buff State making things a little interesting.

Plattsburgh also quietly unbeaten.  Big mid week test for them against Cortland.

Crossit4fun

New Paltz and Brockport was a good match. NP had a slight edge in play and chances.
Brockport GK came up with two BIG saves in final few minutes to preserve the Draw.
NP hit a post in first half and a crossbar in second half.  Have to say NP has played both Brockport 0-0 and Oneonta 0-1 (loss in gk miscue) very well and slighlty outplayed both.
Cortland in a week will be for a top 2 slot.

Geneseo is always a tough out as Cortland found out today.

Cortland v. Platts on Wed. Then they host Brockport, then travel to NP, all tough matches.

Platts with three draws cannot afford a loss or another Draw if they want to finish in top 2 to get a bye. Platts has Cort., Buff then Oneonta...

Buff State has a decent chance for a playoff slot, they have three wins.

SUNYAC Game of the weekend, for first place, Sat. 10/14 -  Brockport at Cortland 1pm...

Crossit4fun

Well Cortland with a nice win over New Paltz 2-0 on Wed. so they control their own destiny and #1 see in the conference, a bye, with a win Saturday versus an eliminated Oswego

Brockport unbeaten in Conference play control their own destiny for a #2 seed and a bye with a win at Potsdam

Onenota struggling lately coming off a tie to Plattsburg can lock u the #3 seed witha win or draw versus Buffalo. A loss to Buffalo and they drop to the #4 seed.

New Platz struggling to score goals in Conferecne Play can finish 4th with a win and Buffalo loss.

Buffalo the surprise team to the upside

Plattsburgh the surprise team down. Platts. plays Geneseo for the final playoff spot after Platts. advanced to demi Finals last year.

Quarterfinal matchups set

New Paltz travels to Buffalo...Buffalo has been hot the last few weeks. This will be a contrast in styles...Buffalo their third best scoring offense in the conference versus NP tied for least goals allowed. Buffalo plays more direct feeding their athletic forwards. NP will try to build out of the back. NP won the conference opener 2-0 at Buffalo. Edge to Buffalo playing at home. They have gone unbeaten in their last 5 conference matches (4 wins & 1 draw) If NP falls behind early they will be in trouble as they struggle to score goals.

Geneseo travels to Oneonta. Oneonta last two matches ended in Draws versus Platts. & Buffalo this past weekend. Geneseo beat Plattsburgh this past weekend which was a play in match the winne of the match clinching the #6 seed. Geneseo has played the top teams in the conference tough all season giving Cortland their only loss in conference play. Geneseo will be a tough out but after a big win versus Platts. beating Oneonta on the road is a tall order.

Cortland #1 seed & Brockport #2 seed earned byes.
