Congrats to Pat! Played 2 years at ECSU before moving on to URI, and was a scoring machine at both. Quite a rapid rise from the LEC to the MLS

I keep telling people that the levels between D1 and Top D3 is not that great.
I played with MLS and  A-League players and other  players who were on National senior teams while in college.
The Professionals I played with were not as gifted as some players who didn't go pro.

Lots of it oils down to will and desire.
After watching a few games this season in the dance, there are a few kids that should be playing at a higher level... a much higher level.

Great for D3 to get some recognition.  I believe there were 2 drafted in the top 20 with D3 on their resumes.

Top tier D1 is superior to D3 only because they are stacked in all positions top to bottom.  Top D3 teams have excellent players that could be D1 but as a whole the team may be thin in a few positions limiting their ability to compete as a team against D1

If you noted some players in the D3 dance that could be playing at a higher level - if they were around an overall higher caliber team (shrunken talent pool) they would be better yet.

I have seen D3 players play in summer leagues (ie USL2) with all levels of players - one would be hard pressed to pick out the D1 players.
