Pomona-Pitzer

https://www.sagehens.com/sports/msoc/2023-24/schedule

Ambitious opening non-conference schedule for Pomona-Pitzer, playing St. Thomas and Trinity in San Antonio over Labor Day weekend.  Vanguard, a strong NAIA side, at home a few days after they return is no easy game either.  If the Sagehens can be competitive and maybe steal a result or two over these three games, that would be great for their strength-of-schedule, but the biggest takeaway might be getting them more quickly up to speed for SCIAC conference play.  Last year, after an easy 8-0 victory to start the season against a weak opponent, they lost four in a row.

Some decent non-conference opponents, including Rosemont, Coast Guard Academy, Kean, and New Jersey City University

I think Vanguard is jumping to PacWest with an even strong school in Westmont.  That is a D2 conference.

Westmont already moved, but Vanguard's move isn't until 2024-2025.  Vanguard released their 2023 schedule and they are still in the Golden State Athletic Conference in NAIA

Either way, thanks for pointing out this move, since it may already be impacting their recruitment and transfers to the extent DII is more attractive than NAIA.  I guess that means they could be an even stronger opponent for Pomona-Pitzer this year.

Occidental

https://www.oxyathletics.com/sports/msoc/2023-24/schedule

Texas Lutheran and Lewis & Clark (in its second season) making trips to Los Angeles this year.  Not sure about Marymount College, which is playing Oxy over Labor Day.  Could it be Marymount University from Arlington, Virginia?  Seems like too big a trip for them, but I can't find another Marymount College that makes sense.

Cal Lutheran's schedule is out

https://www.clusports.com/sports/msoc/2023-24/schedule

I think the mystery about Marymount College may be closer to being solved. Both Cal Lu and Oxy have Marymount (and Texas Lutheran) on the schedule during Labor Day weekend.  Even though Cal Lu specifically lists "Marymount (CA)" and Oxy lists "Marymount College", it must be Marymount University from Virginia.  Marymount (CA) was an NAIA school in Rancho Palos Verdes that closed in August 2022.  The campus of Marymount (CA) was actually sold to UCLA recently (UCLA is a former member of the SCIAC, by the way, from 1920-1927).  Marymount College was a school that merged with Loyola Marymount University in the 1970s.  My guess is that both Oxy and Cal Lu have Marymount (CA) and/or Marymount College as a former opponent and the schedule automatically populated these former schools when they typed in Marymount.  I can't confirm the mystery is solved until Marymount University posts its schedule though!

In any event, Cal Lu is also playing Whitworth and Pacific in Santa Cruz the second weekend of the season, so lots of cross-pollination with other conferences and regions.

Marymount Va. is playing Cal Lutheran and Occidental. Confirmed on their instagram page. Seems most teams in the Mid Atlantic have been posting schedule graphics on their team instagram before they post them to the athletics website!

Thank you! It's nice to know at least one Marymount is still alive and well and playing in D3 (there's another Marymount that merged with Fordham, besides the one that merged into Loyola Marymount and was acquired by UCLA).

Kuiper

Here's a few from the Northwest Conference.  I discussed some of these before as part of tournaments at UC Santa Cruz, Colorado College and Trinity (TX) or I just provided the schedules, but might as well put them in one place

George Fox

https://athletics.georgefox.edu/sports/mens-soccer/schedule

Hosting Ausburg and traveling to Socal for La Verne and Whittier

Lewis & Clark

https://lcpioneers.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule?path=msoc

In only their second year, they are traveling to Los Angeles to play Occidental and Whittier.  They are also hosting Cal Tech over Labor Day weekend, which should be a fairly competitive match-up.

Linfield

https://golinfieldwildcats.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule/2023

Hosting Augsburg and Cal Tech over Labor Day and traveling to Los Angeles the following week to play La Verne and Pomona-Pitzer. They might as well be an honorary member of the SCIAC along with UC Santa Cruz now that they are playing three SCIAC members this fall

Pacific Lutheran

https://golutes.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule

Traveling to Colorado College where they also play Nebraska Wesleyan and hosting Emory and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

Whitman

https://athletics.whitman.edu/sports/mens-soccer/schedule

Traveling to Texas to play Hardin-Simmons, Southwestern, and Trinity

Whitworth

https://whitworthpirates.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule

Traveling to Santa Cruz to play UC Santa Cruz and Cal Lutheran

Willamette

https://www.wubearcats.com/sports/msoc/2023-24/schedule

Strong non-conference schedule.  Willamette is trying to build the case for a tourney bid just in case they don't win the conference tournament

9/1 @Southwestern (Georgetown, Texas)
9/3 v. St. Thomas (at Trinity in San Antonio, Texas)
9/4 @ Trinity (San Antonio, Texas)
9/8 home to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
9/10 home to Emory

Still waiting for Pacific and Puget Sound

Ejay

Landmark schedules posted, of particular interest now that the conference has expanded to 10 teams with the inclusion of Lycoming and Wilkes.

Swarthmore and Carnegie Mellon headline the non-conference games

Lycoming - https://lycomingathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule
Decent non-conference games vs. Hopkins, Mary Washington, Messiah and Gettysburg

Moravian - https://www.moraviansports.com/sports/msoc/2023-24/schedule
Montclair is the non-conference highlight with potential challenges from Washington Coll and Muhlenberg

Scranton - https://athletics.scranton.edu/sports/mens-soccer/schedule
The defending champions take on non-conference heavyweights MIT? Muhlenberg? Haverford?

Susquehanna - https://suriverhawks.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule
The River Hawks non-conference highlight is a season opener vs. PSU-Harrisburg.

Wilkes - https://gowilkesu.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule
Non conference games vs. Rutgers-Camden and Swarthmore will be interesting

It's always dizzying and fun to see the Colorado College schedule, which usually has a travel schedule that is not for the faint of heart.  They also schedule game days back-to-back a lot to reduce the lost time due to travel.  This year, they managed to put together two mini-tournament/round robins in Colorado Springs that help, but it's still pretty brutal.

https://cctigers.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule/2023

9/1-9/3 - Home to Lake Forest and Pacific Lutheran

9/8-9/9 - Away to Wilmington in Ada, OH and @ Ohio Northern (maybe they drive 2 hours to Denver, fly to Columbus, and drive 1.5 hours to Ada?)

9/15-9/17 - Away to Univ of Ozarks in Dallas and @ UT Dallas

9/23-9/24 - Home to Christopher Newport and UC Santa Cruz

9/29-9/31 - Start SCAC conference play away to Centenary in Shreveport and to St. Thomas in Houston (with probably a 4+ hour bus ride on the rest day in-between)

Given the number of different conferences and regions their opponents come from, I feel like Colorado College (especially if it has a good season) has to have an outsized influence on strength-of-schedules and therefore Pool C tournament bids around the country.

Puget Sound.
https://loggerathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule

Thanks!  That's a very odd schedule.  Whitman in the second game is a Northwest Conference game despite not being marked as a conference game.  So, that means they are playing 1 non-conference game and that's it.  Last year, they played 6 non-conference games.  The NWC does a double round robin, so there are more conference games than in other conferences, but I don't think any other NWC is playing fewer than three or four non-conference games plus scrimmages.  I wonder why so few.

westroadsf

Yes wondering whether this might be an incomplete schedule. With late head coach change, maybe things are still in motion on the scheduling.
