Well, if teams have pre-season scrimmages, I too should get a pre-season too!  So, happened upon a scrimmage.  It was a scrimmage, so keep that in mind.  And since it was a scrimmage, I have changed names to protect the innocent.

X v Y

- X in white. Y in Blue
- X is looking for a run from up top so they can send the ball long.
- Its pre-season but there are some bad touches out there.
- Y is looking to break out quick.  Try to capitalize on a bad pass or an error.
- X like trees.  Not trolls.
- Both teams look slow in the build out.
- X seams to bypass midfield.  As if their job is not to move the ball forward.  I don't think they even touch the ball.
- X left wing is a better field goal kicker than a dead ball specialist.
- Y uses its midfield very effectively in moving the ball and getting on the attack.  Really impress with them.
- 0-0 after first 30 minutes.

- Y is good at switching the point of attack.  Y still lumping it forward.
- Y used the worst play in soccer at kick-off.  I threw up in my mouth.
- X left CB Can't kick a ball with his left.
- And X left CB can't kick a ball with his right either.
- X idea of a run is going north south, trying to thread a ball or get a lucky back.  My bet is that they will score this way.  Otherwise lack of ideas in the final third.
- Y midfielder #M is actually a very good midfielder.  A highlight for me to see.  Commands space and the tempo very well.
- X goalkeeper goes silent at the worst times.
- Y has a tempo and calmness while in control of the ball that X does not.
- First 6 minutes of the half was spent in X's half.  Y looked real good in possession.
- Y midfielder #A is also very good.
- X goalkeeper should get a new set of gloves.  Keeps adjusting and readjusting..... he is good for at least one goal a game from what I see.
- Lots of over committing defensively.  So rushed to win the ball...
- Y is very disciplined on set pieces.  X is a bit more chaotic, more of a crash.
- X doesn't have numbers on the attack.  No movement as a unit.
- For all the acrobatics on the punt, X goalkeeper punts it out of bounds.
- Lots of gaps in the midfield that Y can exploit.
- Y does not press backs.  Comfortable letting them pass it between them.

Ok.  1-1.  This was a good pre-season game for me to shake off the rust.

This is like a "name that team" game.  My guess is that you could make your life easier and reprint this for most game summaries while only changing the score and not get a lot of protests from those who actually watched the game.

By the way, I tend to think a lot of GKs adjust their gloves the way baseball hitters used to adjust their batting gloves after every bat (anyone remember Mike "the human rain delay" Hargrove?).  It's kind of an OCD habit rather than an actual problem with the gloves.  And I also think a poorly done side volley is one of the worst things a GK can do in distribution. It's like a perfect golf swing.  People who do it once are forever trying to replicate that sweet hit of the ball and forever failing at it.

That's great!  So you are now using ChatGPT I see.  Very, very cutting edge.

Brilliant, though you didn't mention anything about X playing chaos ball, but somehow being effective as well as you saying that you hate that kind of soccer.
