Interesting study on keeper cognitive abilities.  "Specifically, we found that the goalkeepers displayed a narrower temporal binding window relative to both outfielders and control participants, indicating more precise audiovisual timing estimation...For instance, when a player strikes the ball, goalkeepers not only use visual information to determine the ball's direction and flight, but also rely on auditory information such as the sound of the ball being struck; however, the relationship between these multisensory cues will change depending on the distance of the striker and in many cases (e.g. where the striker shoots from outside the box) the sensory information will be temporally decoupled.
