To clarify the red was giving to the goalkeeper for catching the ball outside of the box and was awarded a direct free kick. There was no foul whatsoever.

Here is the link if anyone wants to rewatch:

It was very poor judgement by the keeper who could've easily waited to take the ball into the box which is why I believe a yellow card should've been given. The buff attacker never touched the ball which came from a long ball from the CB and slowed down when realising he will not get it. In my opinion it was not clear goal scoring opportunity and a red card was wrong.

It should've been a red card if the Buff attacker gets to the ball first and tries to play it by the keeper in whatever way or if both play try to beat each other to the ball and the keeper decides to deny the chance for the attacker to reach the ball.

Have a look as I would be interested in hearing other opinions.

Is it harsh? Yes, but by the laws of the game that's a red for DOGSO. You can see the center go over and confirm with the AR before pulling out the red. Looks like the buff state attacker had position on both of the cbs and would have been in on goal if the keeper missed the ball. Either way poor decision on the keepers part and will be a good learning opportunity.

This is starting to remind me of those old IBM You Make the Call spots in MNF back in the 80s.

Interesting now that I actually watched.  I don't think I've ever seen anything but a yellow for a keeper handling the ball outside the box.

Seems like a red to me. GK looks like he misread the pace of the ball coming in - if he doesn't grab it the striker looked like we was in on goal

Crossit4fun

I reviewed the video I agree with Golden Fans view that The CB's were close to the Striker and the GK misread it.

However, what I think was called under Laws of the game rule #12 - Red card for Deliberately handled the ball in a dangerous area of the pitch. I can see this as the ted versus usng DOGSO as mentioned in the play by play.

Buff State remain undefeated with a win over Platts 3-2. Buff State are dangerous upfront. They passed their first  big test yesterday. Game could have gone either way. Both teams had stretches of good play. Buff State deeper than in the past.

New Paltz also on a hot streak was well with a 2-0 wn over a weak Canton squad
NP at Platts Wednesday.

Oneonta squeaks by a scrappy Morrisville squad 1-0, scoring in the last few minutes.

Oswego big win 6-1 over Fredonia.

Interesting matchups this week in SUNYAC with Conference Playoff seeding implications:

Wed.
New Platz @ Platts. - NP is on a hot streak and Platts is up and down...
Oneonta @ Buff. State - Buff State undefeated in and out of conference play

Sat.
Platts @ Oswego - likely for the 5th or 6th playoff spots (last two)
Buff @ NP potentially for the #1 seed if both win on Wed. and possibly

Buff State looks legit with a 2-0 win over Oneonta after beating Platt. 3-2. Buff. State controls its own destiny for the #1 seed with 3 matches to go last one versus Cortland.

Platt bounces back with a 1-0 win over New Paltz ending NP's hot streak and giving NP its first conference loss.

Buff state @ NP on Saturday should be a really good matchup - NP's defense versus Buff state offense

Crossit4fun

NP defense suffocates Buff States offense and wns 2-0; two goals in two minutes late second half. Buff State opens the door for Cortland with last conference match for both likely to determine 1st overall.

NP still controls own destiny to host a playoff match. They host Oneonta on Wed.
Which will help determine playoff seeding.

Platts. is lurking a few points behind, with two very winnable matches Potsdam & Canton. Platts. has the head to head tie breaker advantage versus both NP & Oneonta.

Exciting times in the SUNYAC with top slots still not decided.

Crossit4fun

Oswego with a chance to play spoiler and help themselves clinch the last playoff spot, however they have two tough matches this week @ Buff State & home versus NP.

It's difficult going from a conference like the NAC to the SUNYAC so there is a grace period, but SUNY Canton has got to figure something out on the recruiting trail this offseason.  Through 8 league games they have been outscored 28-0.

I have watched 10 or 15 minutes stretches from week to week to get an idea what they have and its not good on either side of the ball. Morrisville meanwhile has rarely been blown out and has been in most games.

Crossit4fun

Big win by Oneonta 2-0 over NP scoring early and late. Oneonta had the better of play most of the match. Oneonta puts themselves in a good spot for a home match
2nd they need help (for a bye in first round) or a home match for finishing in the third or fourth spot.

Cortland @ Buffalo saturday for 1st overall in SUNYAC. A Buff state draw or win puts them in top spot. A loss by Cortland and an Oneonta win (play Oswego) drops Cortland to third slot.

Cortland ties @ Buff State, Buff State clinches #1 overall seed and a bye in the first round in the SUNYAC Conference playoffs.

Oneonta with a HUGE come from behind victory 2-1 today versus Fredonia which gives them the #2 overall seed and a bye in the first round in the SUNYAC Conference playoffs. After Oneonta tied the match up a few minutes before, Fredonia turns the ball over near the midfield line, Oneonta counters but the Fredonia D gets the ball cleared toward the sideline and the outside back attempts to clear the ball back thru the middle of the field Oneonta intercepts drives forward, one pass to Ali Somorow who skins the defender to the outside cuts around defender and places an accurate pass back to his teammate at the six who one times it in. Fredonia loses and gets knocked out of playoffs.

New Paltz closes out the regular season with a disappointing loss at Oswego 0-2. That's three losses out of last four games to end the season with no goals scored in the three losses.

NP travels to Platts. for the #4 - #5 matchup.

Oswego win and a loss by Fredonia allows Oswego to get the #6 seed and a match away versus #3 Cortland.

It's not going to improve.  Canton recruits many local kids and Section 7 and 10 are not going to get it done in SUNYAC. It's way above their skill level. I have no idea why Canton thought going to SUNYAC was a good idea. Their girls basketball team is the only team that will be competitive in that conference.
