I still think about that game sometimes.  Just a completely surreal viewing experience.  Aside from the on field shenanigans, you had a fan behind one of the goals that definitely should not have been there gesticulating wildly throughout it all, and had what I think was the AD screaming at a player on the sidelines that he'd kick him off the team if he kept yelling lol.

Quote from: CC United on October 14, 2024, 07:54:50 PMFriday 5:00 CST — St. Thomas at Texas Lutheran. Last year this game was a blood bath. Six red cards and ten yellow cards. Head butting, a broken broken leg, the ref lost control of the game early. Not a good look for either team. This year, both teams are fighting for a place in the conference tournament. It will be interesting to see if the teams can keep their emotions under control and still play with high energy. It will be a tough game to ref. I'm not making any predictions for this game, but I predict there will be two yellow cards in the first 10 minutes. The players will get the message.  No red cards. The game will be relatively tame, and rather boring, which I think we all will appreciate. St. Thomas will win 1-0.

I would like to say that UST has dramatically improved its behavior under their new coach, but they have 30 yellow cards and 3 red cards thus far with 6 games to go and the SCAC tournament (compared to 45 yellows and 7 reds all season last year).  By comparison, TLU has 14 yellows and no reds thus far.  All of the players who received red cards for TLU in the UST game returned this season, but only one returned for UST. I'm guessing that both athletic directors will be on the benches for this game.

I watched that game last year. It was like the soccer-pitch version of a TED seminar on sneak-attack mugging.

Did not see, but saw the real crime 48hr episode. Next week, they are going to use it for an episode of "Law and Order."

If anyone is watching games this evening it may be a good opportunity to also catch this rare event depending on your location and the weather.

York heads to Grantham on Saturday for a massive game in the MAC Commonwealth. Messiah, as we all know, is having a strange year, but their path to the postseason is still in their hands.

York is doing that thing they do every 3 or 4 years, which is putting together a decent regular season only to peter out in the conference playoffs.

Not a must win for either team, but a massive momentum boost for whoever grabs a result.

I wonder if this is where Messaiah starts to pull it together!

Which is the must-see game today?

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps @ Redlands 7 pm Pacific

As a result of the CMS-Occidental tie, Redlands has passed both of them and taken over first place in the SCIAC.  Redlands is on an 8 game unbeaten streak and over that streak it has scored 27 goals and given up only 5.  Its last loss was a 2-0 defeat at CMS.  Redlands is 8-0-1 at home and 2-2-2 away.  CMS is on a six game unbeaten streak, last losing 2-0 to Whittier.  It is 7-0-1 at home, but only 3-2-1 away.  With Redlands at home tonight, they should be favored, but CMS will be eager to make up for failing to retain the lead in the midweek game at Oxy.

Hardin-Simmons @ Mary Hardin-Baylor 7:30 pm Central

The battle of the Hardin schools is like a sibling rivalry to decide who is their mom's favorite (in this case, the "mom" is Mary Hardin, a philanthropist who supported both schools).  UMHB is 4-0-1 in the ASC and H-S is 5-1.  Hardin-Simmons' only loss in the ASC was home to UMHB in a game where one of their top offensive threats was sent-off on a straight red in the 33rd minute and then another player was sent off in the 63rd minute, dropping them to 9 players for the last 27 minutes.  Both Mary Hardin-Baylor goals were scored when it had a two-man advantage (and even then they didn't break through until the 76th minute).  Hardin-Simmons will be eager for revenge at UMHB's home in Belton while at full-strength.

That is late on the East Coast but will try for even the first half.

Sorry about that (not that I had anything to do with the FloSoccer trend  ;D ).

I've got a running post on the GO WEST thread if you want to follow along.

Tuesday is the NESCACs last games with some seeding still to be determined.

Wednesday is Mary Washington visiting UVA. Along with many conference games that will decide post season placements.

Next weekend's games are huge but that is a topic for the marvelous tandem of SC & EJay

the UMW @ UVA game got moved up to 3 PM. Jelly Roll is playing at JPJ Arena that evening - not sure if it got moved because the UVA players are planning on going to the concert. Can't imagine much of a parking conflict. The UVA schedule site indicates that the game will be on the ACCN streaming site
