Shout out by Tony Romo during the Chiefs broncos game about UW-whitewater football when talking about Quinn Meinerz. Mentioned that Bob Berezowitz ran the program back in the day

It is one of the top conf every year. My only gripe. The NCAA Div 3 playoffs is sort of a joke. Look at the pairing and ask yourself, where does it make sense? It's not about rewarding your hard work during the season. UWP played the top 10 teams throughout the year. Is Lake Forest the #2 seed? Who did they play? Let's face it. Private schools run the tournament and they are going to look out for their teams. WIAC will always given the tougher road. You will need to beat the NCAA committee, the bias, and your conference. It is what it is.
It has nothing to do with a private school bias (Cortland is a state school with a 1 seed), and everything to do with NPI and budget. We got a bigger field and more flights, but not unlimited flights. NPI is far from perfect and in its current iteration it's too heavily weighted towards Win % than it is SOS. That can be adjusted in another year. In the old system UWL probably doesn't even make the field.
Back in the day there's a lot of teams that wouldn't make the field since there was only 16 that made it. You basically better win your conference are you ain't getting in.

November 30, 2024, 05:33:51 PMQuote from: Retired Old Rat on November 30, 2024, 04:32:02 PMDoes UWL have a reputation as a dirty team? Lots of post play activity. SJU coach said the UWL players were chirping before the game started. Johnnie players said they were the dirtiest team they've played, including spitting at them. Fortunately Johnnies did not take the bait.
Well I can't speak on the current UWL teams but in the late 80's early 90's they were arrogant and liked to play after the whistle. That was my experience at least.

Or you can just call them the W-I-A-C. That's also perfectly good.
Or we could just go back to the old days and call them the WSUC (Wisconsin State University conference) I wouldn't mind that.

I actually live in Sioux City about 5 minutes from the stadium and my wife and I were planning on going to the Morningside game on Saturday night. I remember when Whitewater played them about 10 years ago at a home and home.(Whitewater won both games) Morningside always seems to have a good squad though

Then again it could have been DuffMan who was making those disparaging comments. I can't remember

Oz I'm still waiting for you to apologize for all the horrible things you said about Justin Beaver and the Warhawks back in 2007

I remember playing UW River falls back in the late '80s early '90s as a defensive lineman. That was one of the games I hated the most because I know you were going to hurt like hell the next day because they were going to run it or try to run it right down your throat. You were sore until Tuesday it was straight up smash mouth football as they ran the wishbone back then and the receivers were mainly for blocking but they won quite a bit.

Are any of you coming down for the SJU UWW game on Sept. 9th? Whitewater has deemed that alumni day, so there will be a large group of former players there, along with the expected crowd for such a high profile game. I actually might make my first SJU UWW game since being on this board

I haven't been on the boards in quite some time but I figured since UWW was goin to SJU there would be some good trash talking but I notice that the WIAC board is pretty quiet. I was debating about heading up to the game this weekend but. Changed plans when I found out the weekend after is alumni weekend vs UMHB.
