JB is a great coach however totally disagree with taking DR out after the second foul. The game was clearly lost when UM went 5 minutes without scoring giving up a 7 point lead and momentum going to the half down 9. Never recovered. Looking back to the 2014 transfer of Robinson and Matt Hart it turned out well for both of them. DR earned the basketball players dream trip to the final four with many other experiences and valued contributions to UM over 3 great years. Hart was a valued contributor his junior year at GW winning an NIT ring. He earned a scholarship his senior season and was a part time starter and over two years played in all 73 GW games he was eligible for. These guys made history. Now playing professionally Hart leads his team in scoring. DR will follow and likely find one of the many places around the world to add to his basketball and life experiences while earning a paycheck.

The "dark"/sad view to the Hart story, from my viewpoint, is why a player after two years of play with conference recognition ...would make a move up a level or two. To get offers, bites from Div 1 schools, one has to make it known that one wants to transfer...like a video of your highlights cited on this board earlier. Unhappy with Hamilton?...Money matters to attend college in general? Sad situation, IMO. It is not based on any thoughts to go professional, considering his abilities presently.
The final chapter has been written on Matt Hart's transfer to George Washington University. It was neither a dark or sad story. Hart was in the George Washington rotation from the first game of his red shirt junior season, playing on scholarship his two eligible seasons. He played in all 73 games over 2 seasons, making 8 starts. GW won 48 of those games. Matt was team Co Captain his senior season. Hart played and scored in two Atlantic 10 Tournaments, The College Hall of Fame Tournament in Kansas City, scoring 17 points vs UGA, The College Basketball Invitational Tournament and The National Invitational Tournament. GW won the 2016 NIT with its' school record setting 28th victory. Matt contributed 5 points, 2 rebounds and an assist in the championship game, playing on the world's biggest basketball stage at Madison Square Garden. To commemorate the victory Matt has an NIT championship ring, an NIT watch and many ESPN highlights. Matt played 822 minutes over two seasons scoring 290 points. He also had 87 rebounds, 43 assists and 20 steals. Matt scored 55 three-point goals over two seasons shooting 42.3% on 130 attempts. Matt had a two-season EFG of 54% and TS of 57%. All of those shooting statistics were higher in A10 conference play. He led the team both seasons in free throw percentage, converting 88%. Matt scored his 1000th career point his junior season at Duquesne. Finally, in an added bonus, GW made a 10-day trip to Japan in August 2016 playing a four game tour of the country. Three of the four games were played against the Japanese national team. In a pre cursor of Matt's ability to compete professionally overseas he scored 40 points during the trip.

How bout Matt Hart knocking down 5 treys on his way to 17 points v Georgia in Hall of Fame Classic tonight. Fran Fraschilla gave Hart many props during the ESPN broadcast. Tough loss down the stretch for GW.

Lonergan's eye for talent and relationships from his D III days led to his recruiting of Hart upon his release. Hart proved his worth last year with season long contributions including some big moments in the NIT Championship game. Recent GW trip to Japan portends the upcoming season outlook for Hart. Look for him to triple last years PT and performance under MOJO. He will be a double figure scorer and will play a strong floor game as a combo guard.

Matt Hart's decision to transfer to GW looks better by the day. Full scholarship. Played at MSG. Won the NIT. Tour of Japan. Hart played 350 minutes last year and scored 150 points. He is a co captain this year and will log serious minutes as a combo guard.

Quite a night for Matt Hart contributing 5 points 2 rebounds and an assist to GW's NIT Championship Game victory over Valparaiso. The three pointer linked below gave GW a second half double digit lead they never relinquished. Hamilton reference in the clip. Matt left Hamilton 2 years ago to pursue his dreams of playing major college basketball. Matt chose GW as the best school and highest level of basketball that offered him a chance to work his way onto the court and earn a scholarship, both of which he achieved this season. His determination and work ethic paved the way for incredible journey all the way to to Madison Square Garden. With his senior season still ahead more chapters still to be written.

Nice to see Matt Hart contribute big end of half trey in GW road win at VCU. Now watching DR play v MSU. Great experience for these NESCAC alums to play on National TV in these rivalry games.

For stat geeks; early season results for Robinson and Hart. Both over 21 ppg per 40, high performance per 100 possessions, very high O performance and high win shares per 40. Hart stymied on PT by two four year guards one of which starts for Argentina Olympic team. Based on performance minutes likely to grow. GW currently 11 RPI.
Robinson has been great. UM certainly certainly needs him. All those NBA defections have hurt the UM roster depth.
After 9 games impressive results for both while making this big transition

Magicman....thanks again for the detailed info wrt DR. plus K
I was watching the GWU vs UVA game in Foggy Bottom DC....area near the State Dept, etc.
Yes, I wanted to watch Matt Hart play against the 6 th ranked U. Of Virginia...a favorite of Bucket, I believe, and me too.
Mr Hart played on the " second" team and got more fouls than points, it seemed. It was not a game for Hart to show his talent...Virginia was touted as a physical team and were much bigger than GWU.
Oh yes, GWU WON! The Colonials led for most of the game!
There is another connection to posters here. The head coach of GWU was the former coach of UVM. He was the former coach of Catholic U...an alum too...the school of D3hoops founder..Pat C.
Also, there is a transfer from Darmouth on the team...and GWU is the school that Red A. attended...yes the Boston Celtics coach was a D.C. native.
Matt Hart making noise in DC. It was only a matter of time. 17 points plus a nice floor game in only 12 minutes.
