BTW... shoulda modified my profile to reflect my old name... it's fixed now.  One final word... I actually coached Doug Schmied in IWU's lineman camp his senior year of high school... he was one of the best OL I've ever seen at that level, and I never heard the guy complain, accuse, or berate anyone... I know it's a little late to say anything more about it, but I knew he was gonna be a stud... only the good die young.

swede- i envy you. i am still hanging on to my pathetic existence in here. nothing better than a good ole norm eash debate t stir the troops. I wonder if Tbooster is still monitoring the halls?

Swede...glad to know that you are alive and well. For the most part things have calmed down in here since the hill, torchy, et al went their drunken ways.

It seems to be a kindler, gentler CCIW board.

I'm sure once we get into conference play, things will get stirred up.

It is a kinder gentler board because nobody knows what the penalty for bad Karma is.

The Patriots start another dominating season tonight.  My apologies to all of you non New Englanders out there.  Wait do you guys even have any Pro football or baseball teams out there?  :P

TB...I sent you an e-mail that morning and said I couldn't make it. Chuck called at 11:30 and said he was going to be late. Sounds like it didn't turn out well!!!

We will have to reschedule!!

I highly doubt that the Patriots will make it a 3 peat.
What's the word on U. of Chicago.  They have two games vs. CCIW teams coming up.  We play them in 2 weeks and they have always played us tough.
CURF is well, not a real "test" for the Bluejays.  Chicago will be tougher and then CCIW play begins with "Civil War" between the Kudybas. Tom IWU Chris Elm

I get a  bad karma for a little competitive banter.  Someone is obviously way too sensative.  How do I get rid of this thing.

Thank you tailgator.  Some of the alumni are working on putting together a football alumni group.  Thanks for the info and go Redmen!// ;D

Haven't seen this posted yet.....I figured it'd be up by the time I got home from work, guess not.

There were a couple paragraphs in today's Sun-Times about North Central:

You win! You always do!

augiefan

The Augie game Saturday was a big disappointment. Central is not a particularly good D III team, and they moved the ball at will against Augie. The total lack of passing attack hurts, when your defense is giving up lots of points.

Although I picked Augie to finish in the first division, this may be the worst Augie team in the last 25 years.
When is the last time Augie finished below 4th place? I cannot remember that happening since perhaps the 1970s. This looks like it could be the year based on Saturday's bad home loss.

Wow.  Either Augie played that badly on Saturday or you're one of those unrealistic, wacko fans that only accepts 28 point blowouts as good games.  I'm not one to want to boost an Augie fan's spirits, but I'd hardly choose the first game of the season as the time to write the team off for the season.

Thank God this is over! -- No more deer stand.

New press box a big plus for Carthage
Andrew Horschak KENOSHA NEWS
Sep 8, 2005
On behalf of the Kenosha News sports department, I would like to send a hearty thank you to Carthage College for the latest addition to its ever-improving football facility.

When talking about the newly installed press box on the east side of Art Keller Field, using the words "much needed" doesn't seem to do it justice.

"We have just needed one for a long time, obviously," athletic director Bob Bonn told me earlier this week. "You're well aware of that."

I'm certainly no expert on press boxes, but I have sat in a few over the years. I'm sure I'm not offending anyone when I say that Carthage's previous press box was the worst.

Cramped, cold and rickety, the old shanty can probably be sold on eBay to a deer hunter in Crivitz.

There were many games when a visiting assistant coach, upset over a botched play, would be stomping around on the roof of the old wooden box and I'd expect him to fall in my lap at any minute.

At least opposing coaches got to take in the action on top of the press box. Carthage assistant coaches would talk to coaches on the sideline via headset from the top of the home bleachers.

Those worries are no more.

The new press box is 1,000 square feet, stretching from the 30-yard line to the 30-yard line.

It includes a main game-management room, an auxiliary media room, a home radio booth, a home and visitors film room (with a hatch to a roof deck), a home and visitors coaching room and a special events room. Also, the soundproof rooms are heated
Sweet.

"Pretty darn nice," Carthage sports information director Steve Marovich said when asked about his new digs on game days. "The one at Wheaton is pretty good, and this one is a lot nicer than Wheaton's. Without having been in a lot of them outside of this area, this is probably one of the best ones in D-3."............

Article later goes on to state that Mount Union has the best press box in D3.  ---True Pat?

Pat Coleman

Mount Union has the nicest press box I've been in. Cortland State's is pretty nice, too.
