Sanborn puts it in with 11 seconds to play.  Guilford down by 1 point.  Bonner commits a foul and Dallas hits the first to put the Comets up by 2 before calling a timeout.  10 seconds to play and they have another to attempt after the timeout.

Dallas hits the second to put them up by 3 points, but Henson then hits a 3 to send the game to OT!!!!!

UT-D up by three, Henson takes a weird looking shot as time expires... and it goes in!  The Snipes fairy has entered the house!
OT!

This is looking good!  The Quakers have a 3-point lead and will have the ball after a UT-Dallas timeout, with 30 seconds left.

Quakers will go to the Final Four in Salem!  Congratulations to Sanborn, Bonner, Henson, Anderson, Neville, and the entire team!!

This is the third time in four years for the ODAC.

Wow!  TC Anderson get the last two rebounds of the game!

Are you kidding me?!  Guilford goes O for Ohio on threes until the last minute of the game, then hits two in regulation (one at the buzzer) and one in OT!  When GC hit a three to start the OT, it was their first lead of the game!

It was 50-40 UT-D and it wasn't looking good, but what a crazy game!  I guess you should never give up.

Wow!  Sludge, want to go to Salem?  I'm getting my ticket!

Congratulations, Quakers!  Super!

It occurs to me that the Quakers might have made it to the Final Four 2 years ago, in 2007, had they not been playing the same bracket as the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins, to whom they lost in the Elite Eight.  It's great to see them get the win this time and a trip to Salem!

The ODAC now has 3 colleges that have, between them, made it to the Final Four in 4 of the last 7 years: Hampden-Sydney, Virginia Wesleyan (twice), and Guilford.  Wow!!!

Hah, that VWC thing occurred to us also.

Wow!  What a team game.  Amazing.  We're working on that trip, Hasanova.  I think we'll see you there.
Sanborn is playing like an All-American.
Henson is super-clutch, even when his shots weren't dropping.
Bonner is smooth.  Neville is tough.
TC Anderson is a monster.

The complete lack of quit is what I loved about this one.

The Quakers are to be commended on a gutty never-say-die effort tonight. They looked dead for much of the game, but made it count when they needed to in this game. I saw them play against Transy at Centre and I honestly didn't see this coming. They've got a good balanced smart group of guys - congratulations! You'll represent the South Region admirably in Salem.

Mr. Ypsi

For the first time (ever? :o) I have no rooting interest (based on conference or pickems) in either the men's or women's final four.  I'm adopting Guilford as my team (though I fear 'we' will get blown out by Wash U - they are truly a monstrously good team, and likely to repeat).  May Tyler Sanborn 'channel' his inner Ben Strong! ;)

Congrats to the Quakers!  Very glad to see you're heading to Salem.  If it couldn't be the Blue Streaks, I suppose it's best to have the team that beat us go.

Great defensive effort against us.  We played our style, got our turnovers, but couldn't do anything with them.

By the way, you'll see the JCU pep band at Salem.  We go each year as the official house band.  We're of course neutral, but I'll be quietly routing for you guys.

Thanks, jcu_fan.  See if you can convert Katie, the lady on the video broadcast.  In addition to saying "exactly" every other sentence, she was openly clapping and rooting for UT-D.  Her logic?  To root against the team that beat the Blue Streaks.  :)  If UT-D had won, it could be argued there are two teams better than JCU!

Congratulations to Guilford.

I'm sure it didn't seem like it at the time, but I think the loss to W&L in the ODAC Tournament was a blessing in disguise.  I think it took some pressure off them.  Transylvania had won 13 of their previous 14.  Averett had won 14 of 15 and had just beaten the host team so they had to have a lot of confidence.  John Carroll was the host team and had won 21 in a row.  And UT-Dallas had won 12 of their last 14.  All those teams won their conference championship.  I don't think it would have been a huge surprise if Guilford lost to any of those teams.  Coach Palombo had the ideal "Guys, we have no pressure to win, so let's go have fun and see what happens" situation and took advantage of it.

Great play and great coaching by GC.  Best of luck in Salem.
