I really don't feel comfortable with the Tigers yet. I have seen several practices and they have a long way to go. Shallow rotation at the guard position. Depth at the frontcourt but do not know if they can figure out a working rotation.  I still like Murray at the 3 and that would give more depth at those positions. Just my thoughts but who am I. Go Tigers--don't let the Wasp sting you today.

Good luck to Guilford at LC today.  Let's put the Greensboro game behind us and eliminate so many turnovers.  :)  Go Quakers!

PS  I sincerely hope the two LC players who were injured at Thanksgiving are making good recoveries.

Geez, I was just trying to make the board aware EMU won a game.  Didn't know it would devolve into a whole conversation.  I am sorry if it sounded like I was trying to pump up EMU as "all that and a box of chocolate."

As far as the quality of the teams in the BC event, I would like to think the teams are finding teams that are willing to come and play.  I am guessing the gulf between the teams will be less than between App. State and University of Michigan football.  Opps, maybe not a good example  :P :D

well that tournament has featured lancaster bible in the past i believe...

Sean Sutherland leaves the hospital today (he was transferred to Georgetown to be closer to home) to go home! He had back surgery a few days ago and was able to walk across the floor in the hospital and up a couple stairs with a personal trainer.

Thanks.  That is good news.

Roanoke knocked off Virginia Wesleyan 68-67 today in Salem....  for anyone that missed it you missed a great game.

Virginia Wesleyan came out flat in the first half, and at one point during the first half was down 29-9. By the half, Roanoke led 34-19.

The second half was totally different, as it was all Virginia Wesleyan. Stephen Fields was hitting tough baskets, including a step-back three pointer to pull VWC within 2 points, then Norman Hassell hit a 3 pointer to put VWC up one. Roanoke's Curtis Peery then hit a jumper from the free throw line to give Roanoke a 1 point lead, and then Tyler Fantin got an offensive rebound and a put back to give the Marlins a 1 point lead with 13 seconds left.

But what happened next was highly controversial. Roanoke's Josh Laporte was inbounding the ball and in the process stuck the ball over the line, and a technical foul was then called on Hassell and Roanoke was able to shoot two free throws. They were missed, but after the ball was inbounded, Roanoke got a shot off, the two teams were unable to come up with the rebound, but with about 1 second left a Roanoke player who I couldn't identify hit a lay up to give Roanoke the win 68-67.

I thought that the officiating in the throughout the game was very poor. VWC had 6 fouls early in the 1st half to Roanoke's 1, and througout the 2nd half, numerous fouls were called on VWC, many of which were questionable. Terrell Dixon, TonTon Balenga and Norman Hassell all fouled out towards the end of the game. The worst call of the day was the technical foul called on Hassell. LaPorte stuck the ball over the line attempting to draw Hassell into touching, and the ref called a tech before Hassell could even react. Normally in that situation, the referee would move the player back before the ball was inbounded, and after the ball was stuck over the line he would have given the defensive player a warning. None of the above occurred, a quick technical foul occurred, and Roanoke escaped with the victory today over VWC.

Also, Roanoke's Ben Shrader is one heck of a shooter. He's probably the best pure shooter in the ODAC.

So what? the fouls aren't required to be even throughout the contest. If one team fouls more than the other then that team should be called for more fouls. At no single point in any basketball game should the fouls be even if one team is fouling more than the other.

Guilford 101, Lynchburg 55

The Quakers rebound (pun intended) from the Greensboro game and appear to have bested the Hornets in most phases of today's game at LC.  Another dominant game inside by Ben Strong as he had 22 points on 10 of 12 from the field and 2 of 2 from the FT line in 29 minutes.  Sophomore Clay Henson also had 22 points and was 6 of 10 from behind the arc.  Watch out for him - I think he's also going to be great player before his career is over.

Despite popular opinion, I believe my Gennies will prevail today!

The time has come to get the Macon monkey off our backs ;D
Right you were!  Congratulations to the Generals on today's OT win.

No one has mentioned it, so I'll post that HSC beat E&H 135-107 at HSC today.  They lead 68-38 at the half and it was never closer than like 22 or 24 in the second half.

Wow.  Congrats to the Gennies in snapping the streak.  If anyone saw the game, I'd like to hear about.  I'd thought about dirving over the river, and through the woods to LEX to see the game, but couldn't swing it!!

Tip of the hat to Randolph-Macon today, they just beat Roanoke easily by 15 (well easily based on the final score) a day after Roanoke beat powerhouse VA Wesleyan.
