Shortest possible distance via S&T is 200.8 miles, not a regional game if it happens.

Someone raised an interesting question on one of the boards (maybe the Calvin-Wheaton game?) - on the really close calls could a school turn a non-region game into a regional game by buying property closer to the other school?

Since some of these calls are REALLY close, how DOES the NCAA determine it?  Gym to gym?  Administration building to a.b.?  Zip code to zip code?

On EVERY case of 0-5 miles over the limit, I GUARANTEE I could find a route (even if included dirt roads) that was under 200 miles.  I recognize that there has to be a cut-off to meet d3 guidelines, and this is an agreed-upon and measureable guideline, but please still recognize that it is an ARBITRARY guideline that MAY not coincide with reality!

hopefan

Ypsi old buddy, can you get the IWU - Hanover game?????
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

titanfan

Hopefan, I got ya!

IWU up 27-18 with just under 8 minutes to play.  I'll keep posting in the CCIW updates room.

I disagree that Carthage has played a brutal schedule. Lawrence and Hope are really good teams, but the rest of the opponents to date are not that impressive. I do agree that they will be a threat at home against almost any of the CCIW elite, but that goes for just about every home team in the CCIW with the possible exception of NPU.

Dearl Bates writeup in today's QC Times did not indicate Caricato is out for the season, but I had heard he was gone too. A big blow to Augie's chances of finishing second in the CCIW. Dain Swetalla has to get healthy in a hurry.

titanfan

Augiefan,

I do think that the NAIA teams that Carthage played in California were supposed to be really tough, Carroll is 6-1, and Calvin is receiving votes in the Top 25 poll.  All in all, I think Carthage has definitely had a tough schedule.

A good win for the Titans over Hanover tonight before a crowd of 2500 in Shirk Center with IWU students aleady off campus for Christmas break.

Hanover, who had trouble finding the rim in the first half (29% FG 27.3% Treys) made a good run in the 2nd half.  (Unofficially, I have Hanover outscoring IWU by 1 in 2nd half -- ouch!) Hanover's performance tonight reminded me a lot of their performance at Elmhurst earlier this season.

Very nice job by Keelan Amelianovich with 18 points, and Zach Freeman had 15 points and 5 rebounds.  I really thought the Titans should have gone to Freeman a little more in the 2nd half to take advantage of the height differential; and, that may have opened up the perimeter a little more.  A solid bench contribution by Steve Schweer with 3 FGs for 6 points (practice those free throws Stevie!)

May I direct your attention to the FAQ for the board, located here?  You will find an answer to your question there.

Rose Basketball

Hello everyone, Rose-Hulman fan here.

We travel to Rock Island on Thursday to battle Augustana.

What is everyone's thoughts on this contest?

Do the Engineers have a shot to stop Rick Harrigan and hand Augie their first loss?

Mr. Ypsi

Well, on the CCIW pickems NO one picked RH.  It's true that most pickers are biased, and obviously ANYone entering a game has a chance (otherwise why play the game?!), but the odds don't seem good.

Beyond that I know almost nothing about either team.

Mr. Ypsi

Pat,

Was wondering if IWU-Hanover set a new record for brevity of an IWU press release?  I suspect everyone has already (mentally, at least!) gone on Christmas break.  Big game, small report!

Dark Knight

For what it's worth, the Massey computer ranking has Carthage's schedule as the toughest in the CCIW by a fair margin and the third toughest in D-III. I think "brutal" would be an apt description.

IWU was just the bigger, stronger, more athletic team.

Mugsy

No mention of it anywhere yet, but Millikin beat Eureka last night 62-55.
