SJFF82 - I understand, and agree to some level with most of your points, but in the last two or three scrimmages (prior to this year's), when W & J had some of their best teams, Mount POUNDED them with an average score of like 7 touchdowns to 2.

I know people will say we are spoiled, and don't appreciate what we have at Mount, but they really did appear to be much more human than other years.  How will that translate on SatERday, who knows?

Enough for me to lower the spread a TD.  ;D

For any of the E-8 guys that are interested, the spreads for Week 1 of the 2009 OAC Pick-Em contest has been posted.  Please join us.

MOUNT UNION at ST. JOHN FISHER (+31.5)  ???  I think that might be a little high considering how much players Mount Union is losing this year

Well Fisher has lost a lot coming into this year as well.  Both starting corner backs, two of the better wide receivers we've had at the school, etc.  While I don't agree with that spread either, it's not like the Mount Union fans are being outrageous and are trying to pick a fight.  Over the past two years we haven't given a reason to make them believe it will be close.

For the sake of discussion, Mount lost the Big Two but returns everyone else.

9 starters back on defense including the entire D-line.  4 of 5 O-lineman and all 3 WR's are back on offense.  Replacing Micheli and Kmic will be a very tall task, but overall Mount is loaded for '09 at every position other than QB and TB.

From looking over the SJF roster from last year, it appears that they lost a lot more than Mount did.

With the defense that MUC will bring this weekend to Pittsford, I really doubt SJF scores more than 7 to 10 points.  The question is whether the new MUC QB can lead the O to score in the upper 30's or low 40's to cover.

If I had to predict a score, I'd guess something like 31-10 on the close side and 48-7 on the other.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Final from Selinsgrove - AU 38, Susquehanna 17.

SU got out to a 17-7 lead off some Secky interceptions.  Saxons tied it up just before the half then ran away with it once the second stringers came out of the locker room.  Thankfully no major injuries.

Thoughts on susquehanna? Kickoff has them listed as a potential LL spoiler.

That's the part I really care about.  I hate seeing Fisher lose, especially when I travel to another school to witness it.  This way if Fisher doesn't pull out the win I don't have to make the painful 4 and a half hour drive back which just adds insult to injury.  I can't wait until next weekend!

I really like Brian Grastorf, but this year has Steenberg/Felicetti written all over it with the arrival of Mike Matthews.

Go Bombers!
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

I just came back from the Fisher/Mo'ville scrimmage. Not sure what to think. Fisher looked really bad for the first quarter, but then looked great in the second quarter. I think I saw enough to feel somewhat comfortable about the season. When they opened up the playbook they looked like they could move the ball well, and the defense looked fast and big. Not sure what happens to them during some drives where they all look like they are asleep.

Pep was at the scrimmage. After driving 3 hours in steady rain, three of us long-time AU fans, prepared for a monsoon, were pleasantly surprised to watch the game sans precipitation, then Pep drove the 3 hours back in intermittent rainfall.

As for Susquehanna...seems to have a solid QB (17) who hit a long pass on blown coverage (AU's young secondary) to set up a field goal. The Crusader secondary played well, picking off Secky's first pass that was a bit underthrown for Manzer, and later getting a pick-6 to give them a 17-7 first half lead. Then AU settled down and pulled even at halftime, 17-17 with a balanced attack (Hendrix had a few 10-yard gains and a 20+ run).

AU played the entire second half with reserves, as did SU. Saxons appear to have more depth as SU couldn't muster much in the second half while AU drove for 3 TDs (a couple of breakaway runs by frosh Chuck Beckwith) and was threatening to score again as time expired.

SU, Pep theorizes, could put up a fight against the LL's top three dogs, but likely to finish in the middle of the pack.

Yeah, it's a big spread.  I tend to trust what HSCoach says, though.  His picks are historically spot on.  He could work in vegas setting the DIII lines.

Go Bombers!

If anything Tecmo, it is more like BY/Billy the kid Feldmaier than Steenburg/Felicetti.  Steenburg wasn't the QB that Grastorf is.

What time is everyone getting to growney to begin tailgating on the 5th?

Caz Bombers

As QBs go, Steenburg was a heck of a linebacker.  Let's just leave it at that.

Can there really be football this Saterday?  Giggity.

Bombers - 347
Larries - negative 9.2

Boy, it's awfully quiet in here for game week.

Are MUC guys allowed to gate too?  I'll be in about 1:30.

Pep was real pleased with Saturday's Band Camp with a turnout of 16 spirited musicians, a band director who will be getting more involved with the band this year (yay for someone who can direct music!) and some new tunes that the band, after some work, nailed very nicely.... 25or6to4 and Smoke on the Water, to name a couple.

Pep was also somewhat surprised that 9 or 10 of the musicians want to make the ROAD TRIP to Massachusetts Friday and Saterday for the Saxons' opener at UMASS-Dartmouth (12 noon kickoff) Sept. 5.

AU Pep Band is ready for some football!!

It sure is. Hard to believe that week one is finally here. It feels like I have been waiting for so long that this week may never end. I was skimping on my work load already at about 9:30 this morning.
The wife is getting on me about this weekend, but I should be there around 1 in the lot for the season ticket holders. Where are people meeting?
