Jonny Utah hasn't been posting of late. You out there, JU? Still thinking of taking in the Alfred game at UMass-Dartmouth? Pep is delighted that there are 8 band members who want to make the long road trip. Now, if we only had some gas money!  ::)

82- i just signed up for the party on the terrace--are you going to that as well?

What is the deal with the party on the terrace? Is this for the MUC game, or is this for the game against U of R? I know all about the U of R party (and will be there) but if there is one for the MUC game I don't know about it.

Like 91 said, I got a postcard in the mail.  It looks like a regular alumni invite, it cant be because of my incredible donations....because there have been no incredible donations.  Maybe I got it for all the good will I garner for the program from my incessant ramblings on these boards ;D

I think I will do that as well....91, did you pay over the phone or something?  How do I sign up at this point.  The post card was looking for an RSVP by 8/31 i think.

Here's one from the "It's A Small World" Department.

Pep called the SID at UMass-Dartmouth to inquire about comp tix for the band and about opportunities for the band to play without interfering with Cressy Field protocol.

Pep: "I'm calling to inquire whether our ten band members could get complimentary tickets."
SID: "I'm sorry, but any comp tickets had to be cleared with your AD by Wednesday. Your band will have to pay."
Pep: "Wait a minute, are you for real?"
SID: "No, just kidding, no problem. Hey, are you still with the ALFRED SUN? This is Dave Geringer. I was the SID at Alfred State about ten years ago...."
...followed by a 25-minute conversation of catching up on all the news of Mayberry, and a "Stop up at the press box and say hello!"

It, indeed, is a small world, after all!

So I am officially geared up for the game now....went to practice today, talked to my 'ol coaches, met an alum who played on and was directly responsible for the birth of the football program (i think he said '71)...he had some great stories; watched a little practice.  The team looked crisp, and heard alot of good, enthusiastic chatter.  It got the juices flowin a bit...cant wait till sat.!!!

I was excited until I read the article in the D&C , Coach Vos goal is to win the E8.
I was hoping it would be to win them all. I was hoping for some passion and intensity, not only from the players but also from the coaching staff. I don't want to hear the coaches in the press box yelling and screaming down to the field like last year.  Looking for some players to step up and be leaders this year. Take the team by the balls and keep them fired up for 60 minutes. If the players are not doing their job, give someone else a chance. The defense will be fine, the big question is the offense. There is no backup QB, this team will go as far as the offense takes them.
2009 Fisher 5 wins 4 losses. Really, were are the easy games.

way to go with the optimism fishfan.

Oooh so close.  You almost got every hackneyed movie football coach cliche in there.  So close.  I guess it is just pre-season.  (I typed this with one hand while holding up four-fingers with my other hand).
