I guess Whitewater's win over Wesley makes the South Region look a little less impressive, and the East Region doesn't look that much better with the Rowan-MUC score. Those types of scores vindicate the voters who put multiple WIAC and OAC teams in the top 25 over teams from the East and the South.

I don't know any other poster on the ODAC board from the Roanoke/Lynchburg Area but tonight I just saw actual video "highlights" of both Semifinal games in Division 3 on the Roanoke Local station of WDRL.  It was only one play each but none-the-less, it was a play. Hats off to them.

See you in Salem on Saturday.  High of 50' and Sunny Skies......

Go UW-Whitewater!  Any other Stone Station Folks coming?  How about any of the Bridgewater College Football Team?  Rugby, Don't forget the Dog and Peanut Butter.

True. That's why it was No. 2 against No. 24.

congrats to ricca for winning the dII/III POY in VA. also congrats to coach newman and those knights on their state championship... makes this alumnus proud... and also makes me wonder what might have been had our boy scott stevens not torn his ACL our senior year... damn

and to all of you who are going to salem on saturday for the stagg bowl, my roommate works for DVSport, and they will be supervising the replays at the game. I told he and his boss to stop by the salem version of stone station saturday morning.

-----just read the DNR article online. man i used to umpire those kids down at oakdale park, and coached them at bridgewater basketball camps. man, am i getting old??

This probably isn't the best place for all to see but maybe one of you staff could follow up. for next year on this.
I agree that the West and North get  the better of it in DIII, But the fact remains that the East and South have many, many more schools for the kids to play football. Not just at the DIII level but DII as well as I-AA. So maybe if the best of the rest played at 10 or 12 schools the East and South would be as good if not better than the North and West. All most all the State schools in Pa. are DII so it's a heck of a lot cheaper and more prestiguous even if a kid doesn't play in his frosh or soph years to go that route. I don't know about the other school on the Eastern seaboard from New England to N. Carolina.

Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

The answer to this question shows the aberrancy that the WIAC is in NCAA football.

Name the only non-D3 football-playing school in the entire state of Wisconsin.  (Hint: The school nickname is the Badgers!)

No wonder the WIAC has such good football players.  You either get a full scholarship at an out-of-state school playing football or you do D3. ;D

Not to mention your D3 powers of the past also are able to recruit D1A transfers, ala Brett Elliott (UTAH), Larry Kinard(Ohio St), and I believe a few Oregon & Oregon St transfers as well. Not to mention when a freshman D3 kid tears it up at a low level D3 then transfers to a power. As in life the rich get richer, but the little guys can still compete every few years. Its a fact that as long as coaching stays in place, traditon and championships draw good players.

Larry Kinnard was recruited by Ohio State but never went to class there. I don't think he would be considered a transfer.

Come-on Pat a letter of intent to OSU is the same difference. Had he not been Prop 48 he would have played there. No he didn't have to file paperwork but he was in Columbus so physically he did transer his self to Alliance. ;)

Llamaguy no he wouldn't have, he wasn't good enough.  Kinnard would be the first to tell you he would be honored to be compared in the same sentence with Elliot but that there is no comparison.  Kinnard was not the best Olineman at the time at Mount but Elliot just may very well be the best QB in D3 each of the last two seasons.

He probably didn't have much to transfer considering he was from Alliance in the first place.

Didn't say how good he was, just that he was good enough, at least in high school, to receive a scholarship offer which he accepted pending grades. I was just using this as a example of D1A talent coming down to D3 ball. BC has had quite a few D1-AA transfers, just no D1A's. Personally I think there are many more true D3 guys who are better, Elliot excluded, but they take 'til their Junior year to shine. Most of your freshman standouts in D3 had a reason they chose not to go D1-AA or D-2 and it was not because they didn't get an offer.

Thats good Pat. I knew that; however, some of the newbies may have not. LOL.

Karma nazi! The season is over Pat. Have all you want. It takes a real man to smite every post that points out your cute little inconsequential retorts.

Ric,
I am certainly not downing the Mount I would love to see BC emulate you guys. I was witness to a recruiting tour being given to about 35 H.S. gentleman only hours before the 2003 Semi-final game in Alliance. BC would love to have that many kids on campus prior to a big playoff game. Guess we just have to host a few before we get to that point, aye? ;D
